New Wheels?
I need a new set of tires and thought maybe, after 12 years of pie plates, I'd get new wheels as well. I know nothing about wheels, so I scanned the forum and searched the 'net to learn a bit.
Like most things, each characteristic has its pros and cons, eg, forged aluminum appears to be an excellent choice, but is outrageously (for me) expensive. I found that the least expensive are gravity cast wheels which maybe aren't the top quality. Then there's the finish, the weight, etc.
Except for removing the spoiler and adding a Daizen sway bar, my car is factory and will likely remain that way.
I'm not asking what I should buy - we each have our preference - but what I should look for and what I should be wary of based on your experiences.
Thanks,
EdP

Budget, size, stock ride, lower?
Our sc look ridiculous with 20" wheels WITH stock suspension.
I've had a few high quality set of wheels ( iForged, Maya, Vellano) on our sc430.
They were 20" with Tein CS coilovers. I'd be honest!! What I did was " looks" only. My wife stock sc430 with Toyo non-flat tires with factory 18" is a comfortable ride.
Keep this in mind when doing wheels.

Thanks, Ned ...
As I wrote in my original post "I'm not asking what I should buy ... but what I should look for and what I should be wary of based on your experiences."
I should have made myself more clear by writing "I'm not asking what wheel I should buy, but what wheel attributes I should look for and which I should be wary of".
I also noted that my car is factory and will likely remain that way, so I'm not considering anything other than standard 18" wheels on a standard suspension.

"Our sc look ridiculous with 20" wheels WITH stock suspension." Ned, I've read a lot about new wheels on the forum. This is the first reference I've seen that mentions the cars suspension and I'm curious to know what needs to be done.
I have the original chrome rims and new run flat tires. I've been thinking of getting new rims (mine are dinged up and have some rust) and debating if I should 1) get the taller tires and a spare for a softer ride or 2) get aftermarket bigger rims for the looks. I like the look of the bigger rims, but I'm not a fan of using spacers. So that's one strike against the larger rims.
What would have to be done with the suspension should I go that route?
I really like the looks of the Tokyo Xo rims.

Humphrey didn't need spacers for these.
