Thanks Bgw for the kind words. I actually took part of the instructions from a DIY I did a few years ago for replacing the triangle weatherstripping.

I was hoping that you'd reorder your pictures Bgw so that I could properly reference them in the write-up. Your pictorial documentation definitely helped me through the process in a couple of places. I didn't fully grasp their significance until I got into the door elbow deep though! Thanks again for taking all those great pictures.

How do you like your replacement motor?
Hey Bgw,
Thanks for all the good info! You mentioned that your new actuator motor from eBay is very strong. Are they annoyingly loud and strong as compared to the OEM actuator motor? I need to do this repair on my LS and I ordered the same motor you did, but wondering if they will be too "aggressive." Another poster on the LS forum said his new motors were annoying and startled the passengers with their loud noise. Just wanted to get your take on it. This is the "10mm, Flat Shaft, FC-280PC-22125 Nichibo motor that "zinky86" sells on eBay.
Thanks!

I still have the OEM actuator (original motor) in the passenger door and they both sound the same...I could make a YouTube video but there is no point. The motor I purchased is the same or is OEM and operates just fine.
Just make sure the LS motor in the actuator is the same as the SC430.That eBay guy is selling the correct motors for the SC430
It is a 10mm “D” or flat shaft.

I also still have both in my car. The newer one is a little louder though almost imperceptible. I mainly credit the action not the motor to the sound. The actual lock/unlock motion is stronger.

Here is a link to Dorman's website. They make replacement actuators for much less than the factory. Bought both sides for $326 from https://www.carparts.com

I finally decided to replace the passenger door lock actuator. It was easier than the drivers side because there was no door key lock. I replaced the $5 motor in the actuator.
while I was in there, I replaced the 6x9 woofer with a spare i had stored in my attic.
I made a video of the procedure but it is not very good because I didn’t have a tripod and only used my iPhone. The video is 25 min long so skip ahead. I do hope it helps someone down the road who wants to take on this job or just needs to replace a speaker. It actually not that hard.
the partnumber for the motor is listed in this thread and they can be found on eBay or from a supply house, which is where I purchased mine.

Yes, the motor is inside the assembly. See BGW's post #17 & picture #10 also post #19 & picture #17. The motor is inside the black enclosure.

This guy did an excellent job making a video...I need to take notes.
this is an LS430 but the concept is the same.
he didn’t glue the actuator...both of mine on the SC430 needed to be glued...

If you don’t want to replace the $5 actuator motor, you can always purchase a new one for $150.

I don't know how the box held together without glue unless they've changed the box since ours were made. Mine snapped back together but would not hold without CURED glue. (Partially cured glue didn't even hold.)
