SC430 Cupholder Disassembly
Quick instructions so you dont have to learn the hard way.
Remove the 4 brass colored screws holding the cupholder to the console.
Here's the tricky part, do not remove the 5 silver screws unless you want a huge pain getting them back in (ask me how I know that). If your cupholder is dragging, right now you should check the "nipples" around the silver screws (mentioned in the previous sentence) to make sure they are aligned in the holes. This was my problem, although I took out the silver screws so I had a lot more work to do.
Remove the two brass screws that hold the wood cover on. You'll have to close the cupholder all the way and loop up in there to see them. Once you have these off, you should be able to clearly see the gearing and anything that may be caught in there.
To replace the whole thing, it's ~$120 from sewell lexus, so I hope you can get it figured out with this.

Why dont you take your cupholder apart and let me know if these dont make sense. If not, you can take some pictures yourself and post them here. That way, if people if people request something more, you'll know what it's like to get thankless requests for your effort.

In the second pic you can see the silver screws on the side. Don't unscrew those. There are four brass screws to take out that connect the assembly to the frame of the center console trim.
once out, you can see in pic four the slot to get to one of the two more screws that hold the wood looking cover to the drink holder assembly. Take out those two then do the process in reverse.

(Cyphear, I have posted pictures in the past of instructions that I posted. Apologies for not acknowledging your efforts earlier.)

Hate to necro a thread this big, bug I'm a big dummy and I took apart mine trying to clean it out.. didn't realize there were spring loaded parts.
Anyone know how to get the "Wood" part off of the cup holder mechanism for replacement? The 55620-24030 comes without the wood piece, I assume you have to transfer over, I for the life of me cannot take it off/pop it off.. there are no screws holding it.

NM - Figured it out - Two Screws - You have to have it closed.. Good news! I don't need a replacement, I can pop the springs back, and looks like I can replace the foam as well (it's attached inside)

To prevent the pain of disassembly the cup holder cuz the drink spilled, you need this:

What’s sad is I’ve never spilt it. I left a can of coke, and my mechanic spilt it everywhere. When I redid my radio it was gross inside.
Didn’t know he did it until I opened it up!
but now it’s all clean and I put new foam once I got it all taken apart. Put new grease on all the gears, redid the springs! Cleaned and greased the other parts too.
I generally only have Cans of coke so it’s been good!

Did the same thing.
Now, not only does the holder thing not open, the door itself doesn't open all the way.
I'm just going to bite the bullet and take the out and fully apart to clean it up/out and then reinstall.
Wish me luck.
