Default Help! Driver Front / Passenger Rear Side Markers

Just purchased my 2002 SC430 about 6 months ago. I was in the stealership soon after purchase for some other issue and had them replace the 2 bulbs in the front driver and rear passenger side markers. I mentioned to the mechanic that I thought it being odd that the 2 opposite lights would be out and he said that there was no connection and it was only a coincidence.
Now, about 6 months later the same 2 lights are out. Another coincidence? Has this happened to anyone else?

Have you pulled the bulbs and verified that they are burnt out? We all know that getting to them is a pain but...

It is possible that the bulbs were good but the Dealer just replaced them anyway and the new ones, freshly inserted and making good contact, worked. End of $200 repair.

You can attempt to test them first by rapping on the side marker while the Parking Lights are turned on. With my 2004 SC430, I found that the electrical connection in the cars' bulb socket was fatigued and making a poor / intermittent connection with the 168 bulbs' wire terminals. With a little cleaning, wire adjustment and some dielectric grease my parking lights are working properly now.

If you do wind up having the dealership replace them again, ask them to give you the old bulbs so that you can examine them.

Thank you for your help, and great advice on how to fix a burned out (or not) bulb. However my other interest is in my comment #1 " I mentioned to the mechanic that I thought it being odd that the 2 opposite lights would be out and he said that there was no connection and it was only a coincidence. "

Why the opposites both times?
Possibly just my luck

Small possibility that you could have a short somewhere... when I was once rear-ended with my older Toyota Supra, I kept popping fuses later on. Couldn't figure out why! It was the tail fuse too, kind of an important one. Know what it was? A pinched wire near the license plate bulb. It was pinched during the accident, when the stupid F150 driver reemed me up the pooper at a stop light. The electricity was arcing on the metal firewall / body of the car, and popping the fuses. Soon as I wrapped some black electrical tape around it, it was good to go.

I really hope that isn't your issue. If it is, expect a lot more hourly labor at the stealership, unless you can find yourself a lexus factory wiring diagram and trace the wiring yourself. Best wishes with that; I feel for you. I'd be more suspicious if the bulbs that burned out were pairs going left to right, instead of diagonal across the car.

Yes, and that is why I recommend that you ask for the replaced bulbs back. If the bulbs are still good, then there is an intermittant wiring problem somewhere. It is possible that the jostling around from the bulb replacement clears up the short and then the vibration and shock from driving causes it to short out again.

I did the banging thang and the passenger rear is now working.
I noticed that the driver front lens has a hair line crack. This may allow moisture in and short the bulb. Will be looking for a lens replacement.
Any suggestions?

Autoplak, I have an extra set of orange front marker housings. I'm just in the process to decide if I'm ready to sell them as I want to confirm with my 3D printer that he won't need to take any more measurements from them. If you're interested in purchasing mine, let me know.
