Default iPad Air Mount on a Budget

Spent $30 Plus 10 minutes time.
I am performing final fitment, so far so good. Very sturdy.
(Yes a Black iPad would look better)

This:
Belkin - Shield Sheer Matte Case for IPad Air Model: F7N083B1C01
Plus Velcro equals This:

Woah cool guy right here!

Do you drive that while the Ipad is mounted? I would think mounting an ipad mini retina on the double din radio would be pretty cool. Would it be possible to remove the factory nav and replace it with a double din nav while retaining the factory nav door?

Also, how is the Ipad Air?

A: Road test in the morning, it is rock solid sturdy, yet the Velcro lets it float.

A: True, I actually started with a Mini but it was just too small.

A: Not likely the door is the screen..

Also, how is the Ipad Air?
A: The Air is lighter and faster than the iPad4 I traded in. Very Pleased with it.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Good concept. But really do you want the distraction?

Personally, I think the idea is good but I don't like how it draws away from the natural look of the center stack. The OEM Lexus interior look is just so clean and simplistic. I like how the entire electronic stack hides away and retains the natural lines of the interior. That's the main reason I kept the OEM Nav and radio head unit with the brushed silver. It just looks so classy and refined. Having the iPad and the case there seems like an eyesore to me. Just my opinion. Great effort though, especially since we have such limited opinions in updating the tech in our cars.

Update: Also in my current neighborhood, leaving an iPad out in clear view is just asking for trouble. If you remove the iPad then the mount doesn't look so hot. If you remove the mount then the velcro joints will still be there.... also a con.

Thanks for everyone's perspectives, I appreciate it.
I had considered most of those elements and decided to chance it.
I am very pleased with it, you see - I don't like the old antiquated pixelated low res GPS Mappings, though they were state of the art at inception in 2000.
I take my iPad everywhere, all the time for work and personal use.
So it works for me, and of course would not be a solution for everyone.
I will continue to share as we all do.

Final fitment and road test went perfect today.
Might have to get a black iPad to match the theme.
