Default Trunk won't open & top won't drop

'02 sc430 here and the oddest thing started happening this week. The trunk will not open when using the button on the driver's side. Push the button and I dont hear any activity. But if I use my key remote the trunk pops open as usual. At the exact time this problem started happening, the top stopped opening as well. I pull the cover back as usual in the trunk, make sure it clicks into place, but when I push the button to open the roof, it just flashes red on and off over and over as if the latch is not in place in the trunk. I have no idea how this all started. Any suggestions on how to fix this? I'm in Dallas. Thanks.

Inside the glovebox, there is a button on the left.

Press that button.

If you valet, use that button and lock the glovebox to secure the trunk and hardtop mechanism...

This thread raised a small question in my mind. What if you have a LuxLink and deactivate the top via that glove box button? Will the trunk still drop from the remote (ie. bypass the valet button)?

I have a luxlink. My quick answer is it should. I will try it next time I am at my winter car storage garage. If you test yours let me know how it worked

Thanks MrBlister. My car is now covered in snow, so I can't really attempt to drop the top. If it does work, might get a trunk full of powder or burn out the motors. If you're able to find out, let me know please. Thanks again.

Now that I think about it I believe if the glove box switch is in valet mode the top cant work . That switch would override any normal function . I will check it to be sure
