ive found quite a few sc's for 10k. i just cant decide which ones best:
-02 absolute red 430 with tan/black int. 75k on it. was hit and repaired on the rear right. has a salvage title.
-03 430 gold ext on saddle int. 130k on it, hit and repaired on the front, no frame damage. clean title
-08 430 gray on black int. 39k damaged all over w/salvage title.
all the above are goin for 10k except the 08, guy wants 5k.
idk about your bein worth 25k. maybe if the sc wasnt discontinued then yea but i doubt it.

I just sold our SC400. It's a better car than the 430 in a lot of ways chief of which is build quality. The SC400 is far more solid and used better quality materials on the interior. It may not have the more up to date look of the 430, or as many features, but the 400 is hard to beat on quality. We just sold ours with 334K miles on it.
If we weren't looking for a convertible we would have kept the 400 and not considered the 430. The whole point of the 430 was for the open air experience. I nearly always drive with the top down.

In my experience, there's a name for those SC430 owners who drive around with the top up all the time: girls.
Also, I've had an SC400 and an SC430, and I think the build quality is quite the same in both of them: excellent, solid, elegant and comfortable.

honestly at the price point of 5-10k im going to expect "various" issues but my plan is to get a car that at least runs, my sc has way to many problems to justify repairing.

every car needs service, but my plan is to check out all my options and find the sc in the best condition "mechanically". body can always be fixed and repainted. but interior is difficult to keep looking new!

salvage titles are not a big deal. it hapens whenever someone declares a total loss on their car, dmv issues a salvage certificate. every state has their own rules for salvage branded titles. here in jersey they can be flipped within a few weeks. whereas in maryland if the car is "beyond repair" you might as well toss the title in the trash. but to answer your question the 02 does not look that bad.

A friend of mine bought an 02 last year with 110k for $12k which I thought was a steal. It looked great and thought it probably could of went for $15k. I just sold my 02 for $22k which only had 41k miles. The buyer got a deal. On the other hand I paid $40k for a 2010, which is usually a steal. Unfortunately, this wasn't. I think you need to save up for few more thousand.
