Talking Newbie SC430 Owner - A/C faceplate question

Just bought my 2006 Tigereye Pebble beach SC430 last week . Love driving it so far. so quite so smooth so nice...

The car had one cosmetic issue on the faceplate for the display on the main panel that had the AC, trip info, etc...

the display plastic has a UV coating on it that is worn about half way off giving it a two tone look. I'm wondering if anyone has ever replaced this part and is it easy to do without ripping apart the dash.

Thanks!

Dave

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the SC! I heard good things about a spray called "Optix," specifically designed for those LCD screens. I haven't used it but it might be of interest to you. Good luck!

UPDATE: Minor correction, the item is called Plastx. Sorry.

Default Similar situation for me

Hello,

I just joined the ranks of the SC430 owners last week. My screen is actually damaged, not just discolored so I'm trying to find a replacement. Of course, the dealership's solution is to replace the whole unit. Just wondering if anyone has found a simple replacement. I'm guessing that my best bet will be salvage yards??
Thanks in advance..
Bob. Btw its 06

AC unit comes out easy without having to rip out the dash. You can grab the unit with both hands and jar the unit up and down gently while pulling on it. Just take care not to mar the sides of the dash between the AC unit. I use blue painters tape to protect my dash. There are three harness plugs attached to the back of the unit. You can try eBay to find a replacement or try Sewell parts. The unit is a bit pricy.

Use Blue Painter or Frog Tape to protect sides of dash and radio door prior to removing Climate Control Device.

On Sewell's site, part #55901-24030 is shown for 02-05's. Is that an issue?

No, same part through 2009.

If you search by year rather than part number you will see that the same part number is listed for years up through 2009.

Here is the Sewell listing for my 2008. You can see the same part number 5590124030 (without the dash) is listed for my 2008.

If you register with your clublexus user name and log in you will see price with discount is $213.

First screen shot is without logging in and price shows $299. Second screenshot is with logging in and discount applied with price of $213.

Thanks, I just ordered from Sewell. They were 92.00 cheaper than local dealer.

What is the trick to removing the old piece?

Bob there is no real trick, just care. There is no need to use any tools other than your hands to remove the unit. Please read the previous threads by using tape to prevent marring to your dash. When you pull on the device just make sure you have both hands on the device and pull towards you with some slight up and down hand movement as you pull towards yourself.
