Default 2002 navigation system

My navigation system just shut off and the screen reads" can not read disk" . Anyone have any solution for this problem?

Start with the cheap solutions first. Take out disc. Clean it off. Re-insert.

cleaning the disk did not help. Any other thoughts

It is very common problem. Your next step to try a known good Gen 2/3 Nav disc. If that doesn't work, there are several options depending on your background and skill level - all mentioned in that post.

Most of us have taken the easy way out and replaced the Gen 2/3 DVD player with the newer Gen 4 unit. It is plug and play but will also need the Gen 4 Navi disc. You can find used Gen 4 DVD players for under $400. The latest Gen 4 Navi disc will be around $170.
