Perhaps the most ugly cold air intake ever made?

I wish I had also taken a baseline IAT temp reading. Since I added about 4 or 5 layers of insulation, at least 1 inch in depth, there MUST be a drop in temps.
Qualitatively, the intake isn't hot at all to the touch whereas prior to the insulation it was burning hot..

Back 12 years ago we had a few members including me with custom lids for our SRT intake and insulated sides using 3m adhesive backed foam insulation sheets. Worked pretty well.
Brett you shoud sign your intake tube, looks like an arm in a cast!

Haha fair enough. Well I put carbon fiber wrap over the ugly header wrap, and I think it looks much better. Will post a pic tomorrow!
Ps- also added chrome and red spectre split loom tubing all over the engine bay with neon lights..

Now that's a better set up!

Engine Bay Dress Up and Revised Cold Air Intake
Spent some time over the holidays working on my engine bay and putting carbon fiber tape on my intake. Here are a baseline photos:
Now, here is what my engine bay looks like after all my efforts:

Thanks- I did indeed use duct tape at one point in the process. It was very much learning by doing. First I used header wrap. Then more header wrap. Next duct tape, and then two layers of insulation from home depot. After another layer of duct tape to smooth out the surface, I applied two layers of the carbon fiber material you see in the photo. I'm glad to be finished with this project!

I think you spent money and time on that air box setup when you could of did what Slvbullet did and that works. you are still getting air from under the hood. I know you like the sound it makes. Slvbullet has the best cold air setup I have seen yet and like I said it works. sometimes sound don't make thing work. I also use Slvbullet setup also. Cold Air.

Yes, I love the sound.
And I really feel a difference with this set up compared to stock. I remember when I first pulled out of SRT after it was installed, I was amazed at the difference. The car is faster and sounds just plain mean.
The downside is that the intake runs over the thermostat housing, and heats up, which is why I added the insulation.
Maybe the performance I am feeling it is actually the due to the advanced ignition timing from the SRT chip, and not the intake at all...
Whatever the case it feels nice..

and the chip don't do a thing if it worked we would all have them they don't advance ign. timing. dose not give you hp its called snake oil.
lex I raced car for over 40 years and all these chips don't work.
yes the header will give 25 or 39 hp and that you will feel.

The SRT chip isn't that kind of 'chip'. It's an air fuel ECU that makes your car slightly leaner and adjusts to the bigger SRT intake pipe. Basically the same thing as an apexi device you'd use to tune your OEM sysetm on a dyno but in a black box. It does not advance timing.
Brett if you are in nova you could take your sc to SRT after your header install and have them do a custom tune for you with mods of the intake and headers.

Yes I am in Nova. Is SRT able to tune my vehicle? Did you have that done? How much did it cost and what was the result? I ask because it was my understanding that the ecu on this car could not be tuned? Thanks!

when you add headers the engine become leaner more at the top end. the only way to add fuel you must increase injector size. its like jet in a carb you must add fuel by upping the carb jets there is no other way.and with injector you must upgrade the injector size.
when you lean a engine you must add fuel. that's why they have people that do injector work. when add thing here you must add some thing else with engines there a lot of work in building a engine. I know.
