Engine Mount Replacement
#16
Is this a DIY project? I have always wanted to change them, they are still OEM on mine. And I know they degrade.

Yes it is. Super easy. The RH mount of the engine (passenger side) is easy to get to. The LH mount is where you'll probably need to remove your alternator to be able to reach the bolt. Other than that hassle, simple plug and play.

I've been doing research for this and collecting info/pictures how to do this and will attempt at it one day in the future.

Maybe I will buy the parts and have a shop put them on for me. I hope this place lets me watch how it’s done.

Mandy,
If you can get a shop to do it for less than $200 labor, go for it. I asked a shop and they quoted me $400 so I walked.
Here is the notes I've been collecting front this forum. Thanks to all the members who's been contributing to this. The pictures are from @kuWuPt posts
The note is mainly for Engine & transmission mount, however, it contains some extra info about transmission fluid/filter replacement & pressure mod.

Thanks a lot digitatc. I definitely will get a quote. I will not attempt this as a DIY. You need a lift on this one and also a bit dangerous if you do not know what you are doing.
But it is a fun read for sure.

Are you referring to the IS or the SC430? From what I know, its a PITA, that's why I've put it off for a while. If you are talking about the SC430, please enlighten me, a little more detail and pictures if possible. Thanks.

About 3 years ago, I replaced all three engine mounts on my SC430 with new factory mounts. The car had about 120,000 miles at
the time. I wasn't having any major issues but decided to go ahead with the work. I have access to a lift and a friend that is a good
mechanic. As I remember we managed to replace all three mounts, do an engine oil / filter change, and replace the transmission filter
and fluid in about 1.5 hours. Nothing had to be removed ( like exhaust manifolds, or alternator ), only the under engine covers. We did
raise and tip the engine a few degrees with a wood block and jack to get the engine mounts out and some long extensions with swivels
to get at the mount bolts. Not a difficult job with a lift and air guns. Doing it in your driveway with jack stands would take longer. The Lexus
dealer quoted a ridiculous price over $1,500 using my OEM purchased parts,
