I did the same search and came up empty.
The passenger side seat belt bucket is out on my 2002 , but the driver's side is lit.
It looks like they are pried apart to open, but I would like to know for sure.

kclineman, when you checked your passenger seat belt light, was the passenger door open? The light only turns on when its associated door is open. If you just open the driver's side door, the passenger side seat belt light will not turn on.

yes the bulb is definitely out...appears the receiver should snap apart but don't want to take an un educated chance
and break anything...hard to believe no one has done this before?

You might try calling Sewell or a dealer. The Sewell folks have always been helpful and willing to share knowledge.

Harold you da man.... since the passenger door jam light comes on I assumed the pass. bucket would come also.
The passenger bucket only lights when the pass door is open,,,,,
again this is the reason I waited before trying to pry the seat belt bucket apart.
you guys are the best

thanks
KC

I'd also be interested in opening it up to see if the bulb can be replaced. Would love to upgrade it to white LED.

The seatbelt receiver does indeed snap apart but there isn't a good way to do it cleanly while installed. I got mine apart, but there wasn't enough room to figure out how to get to the light.

The receiver appears to be designed to remove the boot from the bottom and then slide the top half of the shell down.

It appears there are some clips holding the mechanical receiver in place but I couldn't quite see how to release them. The lamps are underneath that.

In order to replace the lights or mod to different colors, we are probably going to have to remove the seat. But I am watching a junked one on Ebay that I might pick up to take a closer look at it.

Awesome work! Thanks so much for taking this on! I really hope you find a way to do it. If so, please post a DIY. I would really hate to damage my receivers. You are truly on top of these mods!

Rodger that. I can tell you that prying them apart with a screwdriver is not the best idea unless you like nicks in the vinyl (easily fixed carefully with a heat gun.) After doing that, I was able to see that they were designed to slide down.

You can see there is really no room to get a good look at how to remove the receiver to get to the lights. I didn't go any further and risk popping parts out of the receiver. Better if I pick up a used part that I can take to the bench and experiment with.

Yeah, that's a great idea. I had the same approach on most of my mods too. Better to ruin a salvage part than to ruin the real deal. Please keep us posted if you find a out anything or even the type of bulb that's in there. Thanks again!
