1) how do i remove the side mirrors/take apart the side mirrors so i can access the internal motor mechanisms. I just found out that my side driver mirror wont tilt down upon reverse or through the selector.
2) The rear trunk fabric lining is held in place with these plastic little trim fasteners
Looks similar to this but not exactly
Not too sure how i go about taking them out without smashing them to pieces.
...you might PM ShawnOK about the mirrors, he did a complete write about a mod to his mirrors & I know he has taken them apart more than once. Good luck with those fasteners,I think I used a plastic pry tool to get them out, but still damaged a few getting them out
As for the fasteners -- most auto parts stores sell a tool that looks like a fork with 2 fat prongs. You slide the prongs around the fastener and pop it out.

Yes, you can get them in plastics set, I bougha set from harbor freight tools way back but I also got a set of metal ones too. They look like screw drivers with fork head and works better on some occasions.
I did a DYI a while back on replacing the triangular weatherstripping piece that goes around the mirror. Here's the link (see post # 37 and later post 72). These instructions will get you down to the mirror assembly and allow you to remove it. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...d-noise-3.html
There have also been posts on replacing the motors in the mirrors but I don't have those links. (Just do a search.)
BTW, on the fasteners with a little round piece in the middle, push in the center piece to release them, otherwise you'll be replacing them. Unfortunately, I learned by my own experience on this one. (On my car, these fasteners are near the front of the door on the door panel.)
Just saw this post. Here's my thread on the side mirrors. If you want to remove them from the car to work on them then you will have to remove the entire door panel. If you want to remove the glass while the mirror is attached to the car, then you will have to be extremely careful in removing the glass. Secondly, those are not the trunk lining fastener. I think the ones that are on the "deck" are push through fasteners and only available through Lexus, unfortunately. I've looked at quite a few auto parts store and no luck.
ugh i was afraid of that. I didnt really want to take apart the door panels as im afraid putting it back together would loosen the panels and cause squeaking and creaking in the plastics. Nevertheless thanks for the information guys.

I've taken my panels off a few times along with the dealer doing it to replace speakers in the past. No squeaks or creaks. Just be careful and don't bend anything more than you absolutely have to.
