Step by Step Extended Antenna Replacement
#16
5. We are now ready to mount the antenna to the car. But before we do so let's take a look at how the outside painted cover and metal screw we saved from the SC430 will line up before we actually install the antenna to the car. Let's look at some pictures showing how things will line up

6. Now if you examine the above to pictures you will notice a slight bend in the Tundra antenna. BB430 provided in his instructions that to keep the antenna from rubbing against the inside body of the trunk panel he slightly bent the antenna so it would sit away from the back inner fender of the car. He said he was going to place some insulation back there but decided that was not necessary with the slight bend. He was correct.
I am providing some pictures of how I put the antenna on my sink next to my toothbrush and tooth paste and slightly bent it. But not too much. It is a real soft metal and so you do not need to bend it too much. Use my pictures as a gauge.

Okay we are finished and ready to actually place the antenna into the car. You do not need to do anything further. But I like an added step that BB430 did to add additional security to the antenna to keep it from ever moving around. You really do not need to do this extra step because the antenna screw in just like the original antenna and it is pretty stable. But I am pretty **** and so I wanted to follow BB430's path and route to the tee. So I went the extra step.
I took detailed pictures of how I used the Tundra bracket to provide additional security and support. But because i have been posting and writing for over 2 hours I will post the final pictures and steps tomorrow, which is just how to use a screw to utilize the Tundra bracket for added security.
Thanks for everyone's patience.

Great job and great DIY!!! One thing I would inject is that the chrome ring nut... use the one from the Tundra's antenna because it came from the Tundra's antenna and you will be using that antenna, reason being when I was installing, I had a hard time using the sc430' chrome ring nut, kind of let me thinking the thread weren't the same. I would want to keep the sc430's chrome antenna ring nut with the OEM antenna anyway. BUT, that's just me...

Please BB430, if you see any other mistakes or if you have instructions on how to best improve the step by step instructions please do so because, after all, I am simply lending pictures and detail to your mod. Same goes to you Mandyfig.
Thanks
