o.k. so today was my first time at expressway speeds (up to 87mph actually).. I forgot how easy it is to go fast in the SC430.. LOL

But anyway, I still love the sound!

I noticed the tires making some more noise (as to be expected with Bridgestone S03 Tires) BUT the subtle sound of the Injen Intake is wonderful!

I love hearing the engine more... especially since it isn't harsh!

Kudo's to the Injen Intake (even though the directions were wrong since they were for a GS430)

CEBOYD -

Is the sound only apparent on hard acceleration, or is it at all other times, like idling and regular acceleration?

ONLY when you do harder acceleration... NEVER at idle or just easy-going driving...

Actually, the first few minutes I was almost upset because I heard nothing... LOL

Then I realized that you have to give some more 'lead foot' to really hear it... the more you 'punch it' the more you hear it...

The easier you drive, the less you hear it.

Make sense?

I'm curious to see if I notice any differences once I am actually able to put the top down!

You'l hear it just a bit more. I've already made several comparisons.

What I want to do next is have someone else drive the car while I stand outside to see how it sounds from the point of a bystander.

Larry/ceboyd,

Was the Injen intake kit designed originally for the GS? If so, how hard was it for you guys to fit it in the SC?

It's for both the GS and the SC430's. Same engine and fit.

Hey CE, whattya mean the directions were crappola ? Mine were just fine ! Good thing you had an ace mechanic standing by !

Larry, you didn't even look at the directions! ...so how can you say they worked for you? LOL

The fit is perfect in the SC430 and it is the same engine as the GS430 BUT the directions for the GS430 state a few things that don't match up on the SC430 set up.... that's all...

Anyway, it all worked out in the end..

..and yes, I had a HUGE benefit by having an experienced master mechanic doing the install

I did use the directons !! I rested the filter on them instead of the garage floor. They were perfect.

I see all the posts about how it sounds but does it make any difference in performance or gas mileage?

If not why bother?

Good question Alfa....... I think that in order to really make a difference, you have to free up the exhaust as well, which I haven't yet. Based on the sound it makes the car "sounds" more powerful, but it could be purely psychological on my part. It may have added a few hp and increade the mpg a bit, but I'm pretty sure it's minimal. I just like the sound......

Larry ...

I think you once described the sound as a sort of "whooshing" sound - do I recall correctly? Personally, I'd like to have a throatier exhaust sound ... uh, my car, not me.
