Not really a "whooosh" Ed. It's more of a throaty deep growl.

Help me out here CE.......can you describe it better ?

Default oh geez..

I'm not sure I can explain it any better Larry...

...I guess I would sort of compare it to what a nice exhaust would sound like.... except it works/makes the sound, with acceleration and not at idle.... ....now that I think about it, exhaust systems work the same way LOL

...so picture a nice mellow exhaust but change the tone just a little and you have the Injen.. Whatcha think Larry?

Closer than I was able to get CE. Maybe like the MGM Lion when he growls at the beginning of a movie ??

I'm grasping at straws over here..........

..and silly me forgot to listen to it without the radio blasting my favorite tunes on my way home from work yesterday!

...top down of course (a moral imperative when it's 87 degrees in April!)

The injen intake is in. This thing is AWESOME!!! I thought I would get the red cone and hoses but they sent me blue cone and black hoses. Nevertheless it turned out great. Thanks to CE and Larry for the photos.

Question Quick Question

Because there is no heat shield or cabinet with the Injen intake system. Has anyone encounter any hesitation when accelerating from stop position (ie. waiting at the light)? This may not be a problem for people living in cool weather areas. I had a open air filter before on my SC400 and it would always hesitate in hot weather and accelerating from a stop position.

Appreciate some input as I was thinking about getting the Injen or the PLP intake (once it is release) for my GS430.

Chu...

No problem at all. I also removed the plastic engine cover to help reuce heat to some degree.

I wish there were more mods for the SC430, but most owners of them aren't into "hot-rodding" like I am (except for CEboyd whos' a fellow motor-head like me)

I am amused by the postings to this thread which are entirely concerned with (1) how it sounds (2) how it looks with the hood opened and not at all with (3) is performance or (4) fuel mileage improved. What a bunch of guys !!! Not motorheads at all.

You are correct in saying that we care about what our cars look and sound like but to say that we don't care about the performance of our cars is ridiculous. There was another thread about the intake in which the performance aspect was discussed. Lets be real here it's an intake, we know it's not going to cut our 0-60 times by .5 secs or give us an extra couple of miles/gallon so why ponder over gains that we cannot measure. Rather we are discussing what is merely more obvious. It makes our cars look and sound much better, two elements that are important to any car enthusiast.

I still love the subtle sound of my Injen

But come September, I'll be selling my SSR GT3 wheel/tire combo in favor of something else... change is good

It is hard to describe the sound, but that's
as important as the power. I detect no
difference in power. It's like a lion's roar.

Was thinking of getting something a bit more
than the stock exhaust, which I have now.
That has a good subtle rumble at idle but
nothing much on acceleration. Am considering
Vibrant ultra quiet 2.25" resonators, either
replacing the resonators or the mufflers.
But the Injen sound is so good I don't want
to wash it out and be like every other car with
an exhaust sound. Thinking of leaving the
exhaust stock. My car slingshots faster than
I think it should. Maybe due to torque plus
the 19" wheels and 255/40 tires. Those tall wheels
accelerate the car really fast. Was at a stoplight today
with a few cars and a Porsche Boxster, black like
my SC, with its top down and i had my top
down. So I nailed it and jumped through that
intersection with Injen roaring putting on a show
for the Boxster. Thinking that without the big
noise of an exhaust sound the car looks faster
when it flies and the Injen makes a better
more interesting and unique sound than an
exhaust. I see Mustang GTs getting it on and
making a racket but their speed does not really
match all that sound. I want to feel superior and
more sophisticated than a loud exhaust. On the
other hand I'm not that superior or sophisticated,
not always, so I really want a loud exhaust, too.

Still, I'm thinking the V8 rumble is too common for
me. I refuse to wear a baseball hat, for example. Got
a black driving hat. No sunglasses as they make
me look way too cool. I'm sure the Tesla guys make
fun of the "American Muscle" noise as it honestly
is ridiculous.

The intake sound alone is superior. Like Larry,
I'd like to hear it from outside. Maybe I'm the
only one hearing it. Anyway, here it is with stock
exhaust, the top down:

Am undecided on the exhaust dilemma.
