Default Safelite Windshield Replacement- Damage to my SC430

So I know there are a thread on windshield replacement already but as this topic is slightly different I thought I'd start something new. My windshield cracked about a month ago and thus had to have it replaced. After calling around (Gerber, Safelite, etc) and reading the threads on this forum, I found that all the aftermarket windshields had the same part number and thus were the same part just that different companies charged different amounts. I went into Safelite and had the replacement completed for around $230 and the windshield did have the antenna in it. While in the waiting room, I asked if everything went fine after they told they were finished, and of course the tech said no problems at all. I went out to inspect the work and found damage to the right exterior panel that covers the A pillar. I complained and after some talk with the tech that did the work, they offered to order a new piece and have it painted as a replacement. Pretty stand up of them. Then I started inspecting their work and noticed what I feel to be another problem. It seems that the gasket they've put around the windshield looks unseated at the top edge. It's very wavy and doesn't look very good to me (aesthetically pleasing). Anyway, wanted to see what the experts thought on this issue. I have to go in tomorrow now that my A pillar piece is painted and ready. Should I complain about the gasket or is it normal and I'm just stressing about nothing. Thanks in advance.

Complain by all means. In my opinion that is very sloppy work on there techs part. Just went out in the garage to look at my wife's 06 and the top gasket (original) is completely tucked in like part of yours is. Sorry, but it looks crappy for a high end car. Mike

I would definitely complain. My husband had a windshield replaced by Satellite a couple of years ago and the top seal of the windshield looked similar to yours. The wind noise on the highway was horrible and it drove me crazy every time I was in his car on the interstate. Maybe you should take it for a spin and see if you can hear any noise out of the ordinary so you can discuss it with them when you go back.
Good luck.

$230 is a very low price for an SC430 windshield replacement. What was the brand, do you know? It normally runs at least $300+.

Good that you were able to get the A Pillar Exterior trim replaced, just hoping the color is a good match.

In my case there was a slight scratch when the installer tried to yank out the pillar cover without removing the bolt. I used touch up paint and you can hardly tell.

With respect to the rubber seal on the top being wavy, I could not imagine why. The seal is supposed to seat on the body.

Anyway did you ever get it resolved?

I have taken your photo (waviness) and lightened it up and now understand. All that needs to be done is to straighten out the rubber seal that seats on the body. They will just insert a small pick on it and run it through. No biggie.

I need a new windshield too, the windshield I have delamined in a 6in diameter circle. I have seen this before but it happens.
Based on what I have read, it sounds like I will treat this like I did with the airbag actuator. I will take plenty of pictures, show the windshield guy before he begins and then it may be easier if there is a problem.
I will also bring my Lexus shop manual and offer the windshield replacement instructions...
