Takata air bag recall survey update....
I was surprised the response level to the recent survey wasn't higher.....so I thought
our members needed some motivation to get their passenger side
airbag replaced under the recall period pronto. Not trying to shock anyone here,
but definitely want to suggest not putting it off. What are your eyes
or your passenger's eyes worth ?<br>

We are in southern France on holiday at the moment. Be sure that as soon as we get back to the U.S. My 07 will be scheduled. Dealer told me that the parts needed will be in October 1. I am nervous about having the job performed by a dealer in Rochester where you don't see a lot of SC430s.

Had mine completed last week on a return trip to repair a antenna that was damaged during initial airbag recall. Dealer was a standup guy that accepted full responsibility. He admitted the kids on the wash rack probably did it, just like the other 2 he had to fix. They turn the tunes on while cleaning the interior and forget about antenna, as most cars today don't have one.

Got my car back Friday from the dealer. New airbag, but by the time I got home (1 hour drive) the battery had discharged completely. No warning lights. Charged it back up, took it to get the battery load-tested, and the battery is fine. Car lasted another hour of driving and died again. I've got a call into the service manager, and once I find my multimeter I'll bet it shows that there's no output from the charging system (charging system thinks the battery is full - hence no warning lights or codes).
Can't wait to see if this Lexus dealer takes responsibility.

Possible to disable airbag without taking to the dealership?
(Those not carrying a gun to protect themselves cannot be shot by their own gun accidentally....)
