Default Lowering car

I just purchased the D2 RS coil overs. Does anyone know how low I can drop the height without causing rubbing or speed bump issues? I am keeping the stock wheels and tires.

I'm not positive but I think 1 and one half inch is the max.

...I'm not 100% either, but I do think you could go lower than 1.5in. The main reason being, that the offset of the stock wheels keep them inside the fenderwells. I'm lowered almost 2 inches all the way around (on springs), with wider rims/tires than stock and have no rubbing issues

yes you can definitely go more then 2 inch.. but depends on your wheels. a high offset will allow..

I have 8.5 inch wide wheels in front with 20 offset and 10inch rear with 23 offset.. they match my fender line perfectly and im lowered about two inch.. so I have about a finger tip gap between tires and fender, any lower and I will rub..

Texsexlex, what lowered springs do you use? Type Shocks to compensate the height?

Bimmer416, how about yourself?

I have been scouting for an appropriate setup which is still comfortable. I was contemplating on the Sustec Tanabe springs.

I have the Tein Sports Springs, with Kyb shocks up fromt & Bilstein shocks on the rear. The Bilstein are for the Gs model (early). I'll look for my invoice tomorrow, it will have the stock # & i'll be able to give you a little more info on them. A few years back, there was a thread about rear shocks for the Sc, basically there's not a listing for them. The only ones thought to be available would have to be purchased through the dealer & they were high as giraffe's pu !!! But a member did some research & found that the earlier Gs rear shocks would bolt right up, alot of members were reluctant to do it,but i took the leap of faith & hadn't looked back

Thanks, Texsexlex. For the KYBs, is it the normal excel G shocks? And the bilsteins? I was thinking of a Sustec Tanabe And normal KYB set up. This will be a long term project since im planning on getting proper wheels for the SC. Can't afford to get them now.

...the Kyb's are the Excel G & the Bilstein's are the Sport. I bought mine from Partsgeek in 01/2013. The part # for the Bilstein is W0133-1911223, it shows these are the rears for the 1999-2005 Gs300 & 1998-2000 Gs400. I haven't really compared the 2 springs, so I wouldn't dare say that one was better than the other, maybe some members will chime in with their opinion. I will say that i haven't had an issue with my setup & am very happy with the ride. I added the Is rear sway bar about 5 months ago & that was a very worthwhile upgrade also. The only change that I might have done, would be putting the Bilsteins on all four corners. Almost forgot, just purchased a TRD Aristo Front Sway last week, but hadn't had a chance to put it on yet

jtrice the coilovers wont be you limiting factors as far as lowering the car, infact with the D2 coilovers you can almost have the car slammed. You can measure how much lower you want the car to sit. Use the top of the tire as a reference and and think about where you want the top of the tire to sit in relation to your fender. Then measure how much lower you want to go and adjust the coilovers accordingly. It might not be something that you will get right on the first go but adjusting the coilovers are fairly easy to raise it or lower it.

Here is a good video explaining this:

I added coilovers on my old 2002 SC and had to stop at 1-1/2" because that was the most I could go and still get the camber within specs. I originally went lower, but they couldn't align it, so I raised it back up a little.
