Our SC430 is gone
After 3 wonderful years of ownership we let our beautiful SC430 go. We sold it to local Lexus dealership today after buying a Nissan Leaf electric car two days ago. We still retain our Lexus loyalty with our 2015 RX450h Hybrid.
A quick call to Lexus extended warranty department set us up for a $600 refund on the unused portion of the warranty that we purchased 3 years ago.
If you haven't been to a car dealership other than Lexus for a while I have to tell you that it is an experience you would be best to avoid. The class of most Lexus dealerships, Lexus employees and Lexus owners has us spoiled.
The Nissan dealer had a very nice sales rep but the sales manager and finance manager were unable to put two truthful sentences together.
Anyway, Nissan is offering $5,000 rebate PLUS 0% financing for 6 years. On top of you can negotiate another $5,000 off MSRP and the car qualifies to reduce your 2014 Federal income tax by $7,500. Add this all up and it equates to a $17,500 discount. The Leaf MSRP ranges from $29,900-$38.300. You can get a base model for $12,500 or even less if your state offers incentives.
Several states offer incentives but unfortunately Florida does not.

Congratulations FLYCT!!!
Your fuel bill will certainly go down, my DD is a civic hybrid but I always look forward to driving that SC with the V8. The little four cylinder with the hamster assist just does not provide much excitement...
On the other hand, $12500 for any new car is a great deal! Especially for an electric car!

I can relate to sales mgr and finance mgr and to add service rep who told me, after they put 8 qts of oil in my sc430, that some of these cars had bigger oil pans ...and another said they put a little extra oil in older engines cause they tend to leak... after i told the service mgr, sales mgr etc and loud enough to be heard by customers what i thought ..i was not very popular at the local toyota dealer..and wont be going back... i bought my sc430 at Wilde Lexus in Sarasota but got it back to Texas as soon as i could...good luck on the Nissan...

My wife has been driving Nissan Leafs for the past 4-5 years, and would have it no other way. I felt slightly guilty when I bought both a Lexus LS600hL and SC430 for myself, and offered to let her get a luxury car of her own. She said "no thanks, I love my Leaf!"
She loves never going to the gas station, and loves burying her foot in the gas pedal and being "sneaky fast" without making a sound.
Sorry that you had to give up the SC430, though. I wouldn't be surprised if you missed it terribly next spring and decided to get another one... there are still plenty of great low-mileage ones available for decent prices.

Overfilling a sump can be catastrophic for an engine depending upon how much it was overfilled and the distance between normal sump level and bottom of crank, as when the oil level gets too high in the sump the crank splashes into the oil on each rotation, driving air bubbles into the oil.
With substantial air driven into it, the oil will no longer lubricate critical engine parts, and any hope for a proper hydrodynamic film in journal bearings is gone. Think 10s of thousands of miles of wear in minutes, with the potential for total engine failure.
This mistake is simply inexcusable for repair professionals. They may work on this same engine in Toyota trucks, which typically have larger sump capacities, but any second grader can use the internet to confirm the specific sump capacity for the SC430 if they don't have the information on hand. Ridiculous.

If you want another nice SC430 ours was bought by Wilde Lexus.
Even though we are in Florida where there are over 300 top down days a year, in the 3 years of ownership we only put 11,000 miles on it.
We've had excellent experiences at Wilde Lexus in the 6 years being Lexus owners. When we decided to purchase our RX450h we asked the service writer for a sales rep recommendation.
