Default Remote starter installation with wallet key

When I visited the local shop to see about installing a remote starter/alarm, they informed me that I would need a spare master key with transponder to install in a box. I was given just the one master key with the car since I purchased it used.

Looking around for a spare key I could program on ebay, I stumbled on the replacement "wallet Keys" which have the transponder chip in the card.

I am curious if anyone knows if this would work for a remote starter, after programming it, of course.

Has anyone done this?

Might be a good idea to try some more 12 Volt shops. The best way to bypass the SC430's engine immobilizer transponder system is with a "no-key-required" bypass module. The name is a little mis-leading. You do need a key ( master ) to program the bypass module to the car but after that is done the key is returned to the customer and there is no key or chip left in the car. A Data type bypass module is not affected like a universal "key-in-the-box" style unit by very cold weather. The ADS TBSL KO was the unit that I used in my 2004 SC430. It was pretty easy to install and program. The street price of $40 is better than a valet key. Here is a link to the install guide :
