Finally got around to replacing the subwoofer. It was brittle and rotten. The new one doesn’t make a huge difference, but it fills out the lower end a Little better.
I was able to reuse the mounting bracket from the old subwoofer by cobbling together some nuts and bolts and spacers that I had laying around.
I didn’t take a picture of the finished install because it wasn’t aesthetically pleasing 😂😂😂 but here is the old worn out sub
The headlights were developing a yellow tinge to them. Had them polished this morning - now looking far clearer and brighter. Before After Before After Before After
I put it in the garage along with the LS430 and the Saturn Redline. I have a ten car garage and just like a two car garage it gets filled up with stuff. Spent at least a week cleaning out the stuff and made space for 5 cars. Just like a 2 car garage, I have 50% stuff left and five cars inside.....still have the Ranger PU and the Astro Van outside....LOL
Updated nav system from 2002 and original Disc to 2005 Unit and 2015 Nav Disc (from Lexus $100 Can).
Easy Plug and play in connections...Huge difference so far...especially for Canada.
Thanks to all members who provided detailed info!!
Replaced lower door, rear and subwoofer. All new speakers were Kicker brand. Using the ML amp at the moment but planning on replacing with Alpine head unit and compact amps. Will document as I go along.
ML speakers were trashed.
Rear Quarter Window raise/lower switch; carpet and mats installed
A further trip to the auto electrician yesterday to install the Japanese sourced raise / lower switch for the rear quarter windows. It is a plug and play unit - originally designed to use the cigarette lighter to power the unit. The auto electrician sourced another power supply and created a separate switch to alleviate the need to have wires exposed leading to the lighter socket.
Other accessories purchased at a reasonable price from Yahoo Japan arrived via courier this morning (3 day delivery from Japan to NZL I think is great) - the large boot (trunk) carpet; floor mats (the car is matador red with ecru interior) - I am preserving the cream carpets and instead I'm fitting a set of red floor mats as a contrast to match the outside colour. Keeping the cream ones of course to ensure they remain in a preserved manner.
Whoever had swapped the tires last time out put the lug nuts on Uber tight.
One of the many reasons I prefer to not let anyone else touch my vehicles, and do my own work. While I can't install new wheels or tires, I let a shop do it, then, take it home, raise the vehicle and loosen all the lugs so I can re-torque them to spec. I also check the tire pressures which are usually all over the map!
Pro tip: Every few years or so, when rotating my tires, I apply a small amount of anti-seize to the lugs to avoid any issues with them becoming stuck. I don't want a flat tire to turn into me needing a tow!
I installed the SC430Mods.com Nav Gen 3 and Bluetooth kits. Now my 2003 has current technology with Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and backup camera.
I've been to the SC430Mods site many times over the years looking to buy a kit like this, but he is always sold out! I'm glad you were able to source the parts and have the upgraded infotainment system. Congrats!
