I have seen members here who made small cutout (around 1.5 in) in carpet area to adjust the coilover, which I am planning to do as well. But after uninstalling the whole trunk, I am really leaning making a larger cutout, like 4-5 inch, on mine so I can access the bolts for the coilover, if I ever need to make any changes.

I cut a large hole and used a drain pipe stop end to fill the hole.

Steve - thank you so much. I went to Lowes and Home Depot earlier in the week. I could not find anything that would work that are larger than 2 inch. I am getting a weird look too from asking them for anything round that I can use to cover a hole in my car haha...

So why not use the piece that you cut out? On one side put a tab on the bottom with a short screw. On the other side put a tab on top with a short screw, and put a piece of the rough side Velcro so that top tab sticks to the trunk carpet. Kinda like I mocked up in this picture.

Any marine supply company has plastic access hatches that have a border that you could screw down to the trunk material and then the center of the hatch unscrews or you pop it up. There called inspection ports. I used them on my boat deck so I could get access to the water intake .

While installing the front coilover, I find out the boot on each side are ripped
I borrowed this picture from Bgw70's thread, but this is the boot that are ripped on mine. I think it is called outer tie rod, right? Can I just replace the boot, or might as well replace the outer tie rod as well? OEM or aftermarket? I guess the SC is going to be sidelined a bit longer... and more research time for me how to do this...

Thanks, Coleroad! Got to spend quite a bit of "quality time" with the SC430 this week.
The weather continued to behave so I did the front struts on Friday with a quick trip to the dealer for a alignment on Saturday. Went with the KYB Excel-GR2's on the front. While I was in there I replaced the upper control arm / ball joint with Moog units and got rid of the metal clanking sound when going over rough roads by replacing the strut mounts. Totally different ( and much improved ) over the very worn original parts.
