No it was not hard just a little intimidating at first. There is a video on YouTube that Bgw70 pointed me to which shows how to take the whole thing out. That helped a lot. I ordered a set of universal panel removal tools and the rest is history. Just take your time and watch the video a couple of times and it will be just like a walk in the park. I highly recommend the e-bay seller I mentioned in an earlier post.
My 2003 SC 430 had it's 2nd Timing Belt installed at 40K miles, but that was 8+ years ago (2010).
Only an additional 16K miles on it since then ( at 56K now) but the time factor could not
be ignored, and had it replaced (AISIN Kit) . Although the mechanic told me he has yet to see
one break, I did not want to be the first. .
Also.. had the trunk struts replaced..
I certainly appreciate the information so many on this forum share..
I have it done for little under $500. I bought the Aisin TB kits on Amazon for $160, my mechanic charged $350 for installation. Others, cost them around $700, by same method, buy the kits and have their independent mechanics do the installation. There are plenty discussions to this subject. Search the forum for the threads.
Decided to make fitting spare tire covers out of existing ones. Used the correct covers as my template then cut the others using a drimmel tool and box cutters.
now I just need to locate the actual tire cover and mounting parts...
i paid almost $800 for the complete assembly the first time around. This time, I hope to pay no more than $300.
My butcher job...you will not be able to tell the difference once the correct OEM is over the tire, except for the missing Lexus emblem. OEM Parts...
What is the procedure for adding a rear camera to the oem system?
Thanks Ed
Easiest way is $220-$250 for Navtool or Naviks.
I'm looking for a way to get the backup cam directly connect to the MFD and leave it on all the time. I don't think I'll ever want to use the built in Nav.
