I only recently got my SC430, I am currently trying to figure out why my audio is intermittent. Ripped out the boot lining to get to the mark lev amp and it works when I hold the connectors in but as soon as I let it go the audio dies. (possibly bad pins?) I also made a video of the start up and roof down procedure of my '04 SC 430 if anyone wishes to see it?
I removed my air filter. Took it inside the house and shot it with Simple Green. Rinsed it. Dried it and put it back in saving myself a nice piece of change. Wish I could do that for the cabin filter. 🤨
@Raven01750 - not specifically replying to make you feel better, buuuutttt ... just had 3 speakers replaced at the dealer's and it cost me almost AUD $1K
There is no way I could tackle a job like that (one door sub woofer and 2 x 12cm rear quarter) and the dealer hasn't let me down in the past so I just had to bite the bullet. That makes both doors, both rear quarters, and one front mid-range since I bought the car 4 years ago and I am DONE.
Two questions though - the speakers in question were all raspy and distorted to varying degrees, and the mechanic's comments when I picked up the car were exactly what Raven01750 said a few posts back - that they were "completely shot", but when I look at them they look fine to me. There's no holes or tears on any of the cones ... if I push on the very edge of the speaker it does appear to have separated from the rest of the unit. Is this the problem?
Second question - seems a shame to toss them if they are indeed repairable. Does anyone in Melbourne, Australia, have the same aptitude and patience as Raven01750 to repair them? Happy to give them away - but you'd have to pick them up. Too heavy to post!

Shame you are across the ditch from me , 1 of my front woofers has been replaced with a 4 ohm speaker, would really prefer to keep everything original, been trying to find something over here that needs repairing , but no luck yet .
I repaired my map light again. (Used the wrong kind of solder flux last time, used the proper flux this time.) It took me longer to get the light down than to repair it. (De-installation time: 10 minutes (had to go get my glasses in the middle so I could see the locking tab on the connector), repair time: 30 seconds, re-installation time: 2 minutes.)
Looks great Maarp. What did you use to seal it afterwards? How long did it take you?
The Meguiar's kit came with a sealant. I always wax the headlights when I do the rest of the car, so I'm hoping this lasts awhile. Even if doesn't, it was much easier than I expected. Maybe an hour and a half to do both headlights.
That's next on my hit list for the car. I just ordered protective film from Xpel today on the advice of Jonas's_RX and Coleroad (I believe) which I'll put on after doing the lens restoration.
