Great! TechStream would be my next investment. something to get during black Friday.
Unfortunately Bgw70, I don't have a website. I got that off the internet from a Toyota site.

Ok. Techstream is awesome. I finnally got around to connecting it this evening. Ran a health check and BAM everything the car is complaining about right now. Specifically, the Retractable roof.
Here's the results. Anyone ever deal with this error code?
Short to Ground in Pulse Width Modulation Motor (LH)

Thanks for the extra information Bgw. (My roof failure didn't generate an error code though.)

I manually put the top down today, and judging by the alignment of everything once the top and back glass was folded in the trunk, it kind of looks like having a convertible hard top may not be in my future. I knew the car was in an accident when I bought it. Rear right fender damage. The repairs looked decent when I bought it, but after playing around with the top today, it looks like the right side is just a few millimeters off.

I am so sorry to hear that news fraggin...I sure hope you find that you are wrong about the alignment.

Does the top have an interference fit or does it sit down inside the trunk? (What did you see that makes you leery of putting the top down?) Did you take pictures?

i will take some pictures when I put the top back down. The roof slightly rubs against the left assembley that lifts the luggage door when it folds into the luggage area. The right side doesn't line up to latch when the luggage lid tries to latch back down. Also noticed a piece in the package tray that looks broken.

Maybe someone in the forum from the Houston area knows of a good independent Lexus shop that could help you. Unfortunately, I've never looked into it down there.

I did a quick Google on "independent Lexus repair houston tx" (repair or service) and it came up with a few links. You might check it out.
However, please go ahead and post the pictures as some of the folks here on the forum are pretty good with auto body issues.

....some of the earlier members had an issue with a cable(s), not lining up or not being on track when the top was being raised or lowered. If it seems that the alignment might be off a little, this might be something to look into also. I don't remember off hand if this issue was producing an error code.

The right hand luggage lid assembly that lifts the lid up is slightly bent. In order to line it all up to close correctly I have to use a screw driver and a little force to get it all seated and latched so that the trunk closes properly.

Look to see if you can lightly loosen some bolts, get it aligned and tighten them up again. I really wish I could help more with this, but I have not messed with my top much at all since I picked up the car. It's not top-down weather here in Michigan.
