Or you can get an LED board like mine and BB430s and just switch the wires between the BA9 base and the board itself. No need to dig around in the housing and work on the car's wiring. Worked well for me. Good luck which ever way you go. Best mod to do - makes a huge difference.

BTW on the boards, I attached four little plastic teeth to the ends of it so they sit on the plastic lens - that way the LEDs do not have to touch the plastic lens. Not sure if really needed but did not want to have to open it up again or buy a new lens so took the extra step.

I did pretty much the same as BB430, but with 9 LEDs. I then removed the bulb bracket and soldered the LEDs in place on the back side.

The map light is wired with the tip being negative and the clip being positive. This is the opposite of nearly all LED kits out there. However, if they use a bridge rectifier inside the bulb (or make the rectifier out of the LEDs) then it would be non-dependent on polarity. In the case of using the LEDs as the bridge, only half the LEDs would light.

With a diode rectifier, the voltage would be reduced, hence dimmer bulb. If they used the LEDs as a rectifier, then only half the blubs would light, thus being dimmer.

You can solve the problem in one of three ways:

1. Purchase LEDs with the correct polarity
2. Puchase on of the LED bars which usually comes with a pigtail connector that you can flip to reverse the polarity
3. Rewire your maplight to the more common polarity.

I first chose #3, but then went to #2. I was very satisfied with the brightness, but with the bracket in there, the light was not even. So, I modified it and soldered the LED bar in place.

I hit this problem 2yr ago when changing my domes to LED. Sorry for not posting. I changed the wiring polarity inside my domes rather than sourcing reverse polarity blubs. Don't have to remember if I ever go back to Incan's. Can use any standard led.

My LED kit came with a bayonet style clip in accessory that you then pluged the wedge style LED if iT did not work you just turn the bayonet 180 degrees and it worked. My sc 430 was a 2005

One of my ceiling bulbs, I think, is burnt. I don't know how to get access to it. This quadratic cover seems sealed pretty hard. Please help. Thanks.

It’s quite easy. Locate the tabs along the edges. Insert the thin blade screwdriver then pry the cover off.
