Aftermarket sub amp problems
Hello guys ,
I'm trying to add a kicker cx300.1 amplifier to my system to power a 8 inch sub that's in my trunk
In a custom box. I hooked up a line out converter to the wires that were connected to my subwoofer
Amp and I get nothing when I hook the wires back to my stock subwoofer it comes on but when I disconnect the wires from the sub and add the loc I get nothing????
What am I doing wrong
Thank you in advance

Does your LOC have a line out adjustment for gain? This might be turned all way too low and therefore you're not getting any output to your amp. Check it out and report back.
PS. I have the exact same set up, different amp and sub (JL A1200 and JL 8" Sub in a custom corner box). All my wiring is probably the same as yours.

Exactly true! Most systems call it a "remote" wire and usually it is blue. It runs from the back of the radio to the amp. As our OEM headunit doesn't have this remote out, I piggybacked off the antenna power wire. So when the antenna activates (even though I've removed the mast, the motor still runs), it will send power as a remote and the amp will power up. Kill the radio, antenna drops, power to amp is off. Good catch, Tex!

Also, as I realized this weekend, as I was just about to update in the "What did you do today,": thread... the remote MUST have a full 12v power. Mine was weaker than 12v originally off the DVD power harness and I recently found my amp turning off once in a while. Maybe test your remote wire at the amp end to make sure you're getting a full 12volts. Also check your ground wire to the amp. Must have a solid ground. Another thing, if you used an amp wiring kit, check the inline fuse usually near the battery end.

UPDATE!!!!!
Tried to complete the installation of the amplifier for my subwoofer.tested all wires even spliced in some headphones to my oem sub wires to hear if I was getting a signal through that line and I was
Hooked up the loc and got nothing
Then I checked the amp and it wasn't on checked all wires including the remote wire nothing
Then we hooked up the sub in the trunk it sounded great but it's a 4 ohm and the oem amp didn't like that too much
Is there a way to wire that subwoofer to produce a 16 ohm load?
The subwoofer does not have a dual voice coil
Thanks in advance

I wrote a few entries on a thread specifically stating that the OEM Mark Levinson amp needs that 16ohm subwoofer in place to keep all the speakers balanced. I did the same thing you did, but had to end up keeping the OEM subwoofer behind the seat and using a pigtail to the LOC from the subwoofer lead. If you lose that 16ohm, as you found out, it will cause the OEM amp to burn out or reduce volume to all the other speakers. You have to keep the OEM subwoofer in place, (or replace with a dual voice coil 8ohm per coil subwoofer wired in series. You specifically had mentioned that you were just adding a trunk subwoofer and amp, so I didn't go into that aspect of your install. Sorry, things got complicated. I hope my explanation makes sense.
