Default SC430 Exhaust Systems?

Good morning all!

I currently have a 2002 SC430 and I really would like to bring out the growl of the V8. She already has a decent amount of throat with the stock system as well as the Injen CAI I put in about a year ago. I've seen videos of a guy with a Megan Racing CB and a gentleman from Hawaii with a Custom Borla w/ Resonator delete. I took it to a shop in Bristol, PA called "Competition Exhaust" and the guy told me the best he could do is straight-pipe it and that is absolutely out of the question.
I guess what I'm asking if anyone knows the exact build of the Borla custom job or if anyone on the forum has done anything else to bring out that V8 growl!

Thanks everyone!

I'm doing some reading up on the engine noise "growl" myself!

(although there are plenty of variants on this from other vendors).

This one caught my eye as this European manufacturer has done at least 3 SC430's himself.

But early days, still researching

I've done my own research on the bypass cut out. I have even gotten in touch with a rep from the company named Sebastian. He told me the bypass really has no positive features besides the growl of the exhaust. It has minor airflow but other than that, it does nothing for the car. I also spoke to several people (including a gentleman from Thompson Lexus located in Bucks County, PA) and was told bypass cut-outs are illegal in the US. They will not pass inspection and a lot of places that are certified for inspection could lose their licenses for passing a car with a cut-out

Yes, I've been communicating with Sebastian myself. Very helpful so far.

Didn't know the legal status in USA. I guess that's why there doesn't seem to be much about them in recent years. As this forum is 90% USA based.

I'm in the UK.

We do have some "noise" related laws about causing nuisances/excessive noise but that is aimed at teenagers drag racing up and down outside houses in the early hours sort of thing (although it could be used against a cut-out vehicle if they really wanted to). There is also a regulation about removing silencers etc. I'm comfortable about that aspect.

I'm just after the "growl"

There are a few places quite local to you in the UK that could help. The Lexusman is on your doorstep and I can think of at least 2 specialist custom exhaust builders not too far from Worcester.

They will usually ask you what you want in terms of sound and offer a choice of tail pipes etc. 'Loud', 'quiet' or 'mid sport' are the terms they often use but let them know you want it to growl and see what they can offer.

With modified PPE custom headers, third cat delete and a custom exhaust, I would describe mine as having a V8 'howl' through the upper mid range and a hint of 'growl' when I really get on the gas. At normal motorway/freeway speeds (70 ish) it's quiet and comfortable with no drone but kick it down and the noise comes in and the car takes off.

If you would like yours tuned to be louder, I'm sure they could help.

I just installed the Top Speed on my 2002 ,, great sound , instead of removing the 3rd cat.. some I hear. take the exhaust down, take a die grinder and cut the top out of the 3rd cat,,, gut it , and then weld the flap back on.
You can't see the weld job because it is against the car.
The 3rd cat is empty but not deleted .at $0.00.., not me , just other people

Go with the Blitz exhaust. It is not excessively loud, looks great, good quality product.
