I just got a low miles 2004 sc430 and was wondering,if I wanted to see how fast it would get to 60 miles a hour, would you start out in L2 shift to L3 to drive..I read about braking on a steep hill with the low range but nothing about shift it otherwise.. Say your doing 50 to 60 and want to do a quick pass can you drop down in range without red lining the tact?? As this trans seems a little differant the some ,thought would ask the people that know on this forum..Dont want to miss up my new toy...please reply.....

Switching gears may stress the transmission and gearbox therefore I wouldn't advise it. I would recommend installing PPE Headers as this will give your car the extra push you need.

Like Mandy I do C-gate shifting all the time mostly between 3-4-5 (D). On the track mostly between 3-4. Especially with the transmission pressure mod the car shifts very fast. No reason to try to manually shift C-Gate shifting) 1-2. So for your 0-60 test start off in 3rd and shift to 4th at about 5900.

I believe the 2006+ had the six speed and the shifter is different.
The newer cars have the + and - area for fast shifting. Our shifter just have the maze to follow.

be in 4th and while moving pull the lever to the left and would you still be in 4th? Does it hunt to move
the lever right to left...Seems like you could move the lever left and still be in 4th and the could go to 3rd
say to pass or extra power like down shifting a standard trans...Am I right or wrong as am a new owner..
please reply...

On 2004 when shift lever is in 4th or drive, the lever can be moved to the left..So can the shift lever
be in 4th and while moving pull the lever to the left and would you still be in 4th? Does it hunt to move
the lever right to left...Seems like you could move the lever left and still be in 4th and the could go to 3rd

If you move the shifter to the left or fourth it will shift to 4th gear.
From this position it can only move to 3rd or back to D. It will not move further left from the 4th position.
If the car is in drive and you are going 60MPH cruising, you will be in 5th gear, if you move the shifter to the left, the car will downshift to 4th gear.
Did I answer your question or did I misunderstand your question.
The owners manual may help too but if I misunderstood, please ask your question again but perhaps another way.
