Update Rear Lights
I decided to break down (with the encouragement of Mandy) and upgrade/replace my 02 rear lights/lens with 06 rear lights/lens. It was extremely easy. I still have to go in and cover the light that shows their is a light out. I inserted the wrong bulbs, which caused it to blink too quickly...got the right bulbs. Moral of that story, wear your glasses when you are looking for a bulb... I decided to not purchase the expensive piece opting for covering the light. I will take care of that this weekend. I remember seeing a DIY that was put up a while back. I have enclosed a before and after pic... It is really nice! By the way, I bought the parts from My Lexus Parts...used the 10% discount.

You will need the harness...I think it was like $24 a piece from My Lexus. The entire job looks and sounds harder than it is. It was not very difficult at all.

My1998LS40, yes, it will come on. There are two work arounds. Actually 3...leave it with the warning light on, you can take the gauge out and place tape over it (there is a DIY for this, and has been done by many), or replace the ECU with a 2006 version. This piece seems pretty expensive. I believe the price must have gone up over the years. I purchased one off Ebay over the weekend for a good price...and plan to install it this week. I will let you know how it goes.

So, I purchased a ECU, fuse relay box off Ebay. I got a really price for it... I installed it this morning thanks to one of the DIY's on the board. It took me 20 minutes max...did in-between counseling cases. Works perfect. No more dash light... See photo's.

Hey Mandy, I got it for $140. It was used. He had make an offer on it, and I offered him the price and he took it. I think he was asking $225. It was clean, all the fuses etc... Works perfect. I checked several places for the new piece and it was out of sight. I think it must have gotten more expensive with time or something. But, you told me before I did this, and you are 100% correct, it is a great update! I love it!
