Default What's that Blue Connector over the rear wheels?

Hey Guys!

I took out the carpet liner in my 2005's trunk because my top was not working properly.

On top of the driver's side rear wheel, I found a broken wire that goes into a blue wire connector. The connector is inside the trunk.

It looks like it is a small coax wire, since it has a center wire, surrounded by a braided wire.

The wire pulled out of the connector that is attached to the car.

Any idea what it is and the best way to attach it back into its housing?

Can you post a picture? Does your top work?

Does your Navigation work? Might be the connector to video output from the trunk mounted DVD player to the screen? Maybe a previous owner installed something third party to the screen?

My bet is the radio antenna wire. Antenna wire uses coax from my recollection. What side of the car are we looking at here?

There is one on both sides. You can't really tell from the picture but the left wire goes through a grommet into the actual wheel well. (That black round thing below the blue connector)

Welcome to the forum DashingDar.

Since there is one over each wheel well, maybe it goes to the sensor by the wheel. (Isn't that a height sensor?)

Can't be ride height sensors. There are only two, front driver side wheel, and rear driver side wheel. Not on both rear.

Also ...http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums...able-in-trunk/
so might be the "MayDay" telephone system that was abandoned.... Retroplay has posted lots on this topic.

So it turns out, it is the antenna that reads the tire sensors. I found that out by finding a similar looking piece on eBay.

I agree, good job tracking that down. I never would have guessed that. Now we know how the TPS system reads the sensors.

A lot of us have the TPMS de-activated. However, us who have them disabled make sure that we check the air pressure diligently.
