Default LED backup lights for sc430- what fits?

Hi:

I'm looking for some high power (50W?) LED backup lights for my sc430 that will fit w/o mods.

I've searched through the SC430 posts (most several years old) and wondered if there are any new and powerful LEDs that have come to market that will fit within the housing? All of the powerful #7440 LEDs I've seen on line are too long. I'd rather not drill out the backup light housing as others have done.

So, has anyone found an LED that will fit, plug and play style? If so, make, model, and source would brighten the night. Also, anyone know the max depth of the backup light housing?

Thanks,
David in Santa Cruz

"Scarletti -- Have you read this thread?"

Yes, I read it, but I don't want to drill the housing out.

Thanks, I'll look into them. They're out of stock at the moment. Read that they don't last long, have you experienced this?

The link worked for me. It says it is a red led.

I've had thoses bulbs in since 3/14 and have had no problems yet......it was a breeze to just remove old and plug in these.....no modifications!

Any more suggestions for a short, high powered (50w) LED that will fit within the sc430 backup light?

Make - model - source?

The bulb housing is about 2" deep; leave a little distance between the bulb and the housing to prevent heat damage and I'd guess about 1.75" +/-.

He must be referring to the bulbs listed in post 5.

I copied the info he provided and here is the link to the lights.
