OEM Radio Repair
I replaced the radio in my 2002 SC430 and sold the OEM radio on eBay. Found out that the CD did work so I'm refunding the buyer and he's going to ship the radio back to me. I never used the CD player in my car and in fact I don't own CD's and haven't used one in years so I didn't know that the CD function wasn't working. Does anyone know who can repair these radios? I'd hate to throw it away because there's always someone who refurbishes cars to the original specs. The guy who bought from was working on clients car who has a CD collection and who apparently doesn't have a smart phone or an iPod. So there's always a need for radios with CD players. Also these radios go for $300 if everything works so I hate to throw it away if $100 will fix it.

Without knowing the symptoms, it is hard to diagnose. Not switching to CD mode? Not loading discs? Loading discs but not playing them? etc. It may be that the buyer didn't know how to load the CDs!
If the CD player is toast, rather than trying to fix it another option would be to sell on eBay and disclose that the CD doesn't function. Many people don't play CDs and it would not impact their buying decision.
Kudos for being a good eBay seller and taking returns.

Thanks! I should have thought myself. I must be losing it. I'll google it and see what I can find since the guy who sold me the car said that the CD player worked. It might have been a sketchy CD.

Never thought of that. I've had the same problem with DVD's that I've copied. There's something about the burning your own that causes issues.

From what I remember from older posts, the worst offenders are CDROMs. The pre-recorded CDs seem to do fine. I don't know if they are thicker or it is just when users put labels on the CDs that make them thicker and jam the mechanism or what though. Those are the ones that I've had troubles with. (In fact, I have one stuck in there right now and it won't come out even with the "whack fix".)

I was thinking it was something about getting the trays lined up, and about small springs, and using toothpicks for tools. I couldn't find the thread. So thought maybe I've gone senile.
