Default Spoiler FWIW

I realize I'm pretty much alone here in my dislike of the rear spoiler, so not many will find interest in this information, but JIC, here goes.

According to JM Lexus service (ostensibly the largest Lexus dealer in the Universe), the rear spoiler is attached with adhesive and two screws. To remove it, the screw holes will need to be filled and the deck lid repainted. I was kinda hoping it was attached solely with adhesive.

I'm giving this a lot of thought trying to decide if I dislike that spoiler enough to risk having lousy bodywork done.

ponder...ponder...ponder

Wink

Is that actually a picture of you Ed ?

Seems to me you have talked about this a long time ago.

Yeah ... that's me ... before I got old and fat.

And yes, I did talk about this several times, but I could never find out what it took to remove the spoiler. Now that I have the information, I thought I'd share it with the group just in case someone else has the same taste in design that I do.

Even if I didn't like it, and my personal opinion is that it's OK, I would neither spend the money nor risk the adverse consequences of filling holes and repainting the rear deck to remove it.

If you want to see a goofy spoiler, go over the the Toyota dealer and see if he has a Celica with its spoiler.

The one on the SC430 is so small that I have trouble distinguishing between cars with it and without it, although I have only seen photos of cars without it.

It's so insignificant that it does not even merit 4 messges here.

Nope!

Not at all.

The spot is open, as far as I know.

Lightbulb I have the solution...

Ed, if you'd only get the AutoCouture rear lip spoiler that Genearch and I have, you could finally get rid of that nagging desire to remove the spoiler because you'd have two superfluous attachments to the rear end. It would balance out!

I nominate Tim for that open spot.

Yeah, dseag ... and if that damn antenna didn't retract, I'd have something to attach my foxtail to. Long live superfluousness!
