Hello all.....when one replaces the original MLhead unit, in the event the antenna needs to be replaced at some point in time, how can it be ejected now that the new unit doesn't have the capability to offer the eject function that the original ML head unit did? Would be a pain to remove the whole antenna unit..........

...not 100% sure of the unit you're using, but if it has the power supply for antenna, this should trigger antenna. The on/off of radio will turn the motor of antenna & I think the cable should feed out, as long as the motor is turning. I would definitely try it before taking the antenna motor apart. I've been successful doing it this way once & had to tear it down another time.....just thought of something, are you sure the mast is broken? On one occasion, I thought my mast was broken & someone suggested oiling the antenna. I used a light oil & WD40, then rubbed it on the antenna itself, after a couple of partial up/downs, the antenna went completely in & out. There was a tremendous amount of dirt on the antenna & I think this buildup caused my issue of it not working. I occasionally oil my antenna to help keep it lubricated & run freely since then

The antenna goes up and down with power switch on Pioneer unit...but remember on ML unit you press two of the buttons (that i can't remember) that extends and releases the mast.......the Pioneer unit does not have that feature

....I do remember that, but this is what I'm thinking.....the ML unit provided that feature because the antenna moves up/down depending on the frequency of the radio & this may be needed to retract/extend the mast. Now with after market radios, when you turn the power on, the antenna extends until it runs out of cable & when you turn it off, it retracts until the cable is fully in. There isn't any variation of the antenna length, it's all the way in or all the way out. I'm not 100% & maybe someone else will chime in, but this was my thought process in addressing your question/problem
