After all these years, does the " Love affair" w/ the SC still exist ?.
Hey SC fans ..
The SC has now been discontinued for 6 yrs. Do you still like your SC ?
Ever thought of trading the SC for a new Lexus ?
I personally think the SC is going to go down as one of the iconic models from Lexus
The SC is not the fastest , not the most nimble and looks like a jelly bean ....but I think the shape and the lines
of the car is still amazing after all these years .
And no, I will only sell my SC to buying maybe a newer SC!
The love affair continues ..

hey tex
If you look around, these older SC with low mileage is still in
Very high demand ! I have been thinking of trading up to a 06
Or newer but I only have 30K on my 03
if if I sold my 03, it would only if I can find a clean 06 or newer
happy motoring !

I traded my 06 with 28k in for a brand new 13 MB E350 Cabriolet, which is a much more fun drive. As great as the SC was, it was a boring car to drive.

Yea, the SC does not handle well and it definitely has its shortcomings but I would bet
in 10 yrs , the E350 Cab will not hold up as well .
my.02 cents

I've had 3 Mercedes SLKs, a couple of BMW 3 series cabriolets, a Mazda Miata and a Saturn Sky. I wouldn't trade this car for any of them. When I was younger, the SLK was a lot of fun, but now that I am middle-aged, I much prefer the Lexus ride and luxury. This is the first time I have ever owned a car when I didn't long for a different car instead. I can honestly say the only thing I would trade this in for is a newer SC430 with fewer miles. And now that I've invested thousands in the new stereo install, wheels, timing belt and am about to spend 3K on painting the hood and removing the old owner's scrape, maybe not...

I owned 2 BMW 635CSI, Benz 380SL and 3 BMW 3 series
After about 5 yrs and as soon as everyone of them hit 50K
I had to put in on average $2,000-$3,000 a year in on repairs
i still love my E Benz but dollar for dollar, I think the Lexus SC
is pretty bullet proof as far as quality in its parts. Look at how
many SC with a 100K is still out there . The SC if taken care
of can probably go 200K easy.
The other interesting area to look at is the resale value of the
SC. They hold their value pretty well when compare to a SL of the same year.

Interesting. My mom has an 11 MB E350 Cabriolet and I much prefer the SC430. The E350 is a beautiful car exterior, but the interior is so far below the SC430 (to me anyway). I am surprised you think it is fun to drive - I never do when I have to drive hers. I have actually been trying to convince her to sell her E350 for a 6 series BMW. That thing only has 40K miles on it and it is a pain in the butt, constantly in the shop. I'm glad you like it though - different strokes for different folks.

I wasn't comparing the interior quality. The SC is far nicer. The MB is built like a tank though. I guess the Germans don't know quite yet how to make a car that needs little servicing like the Japanese. Plus, we needed a convertible that fit 4 people. Unless the ones who sat in the back didn't have legs, it was for packages. I did manage to fit 2 women back there on a short 10 minute trip. But that's it.
Unfortunstely, there's not one current Lexus model that excites me. Probably only the GS F Sport and even that I'm not that crazy about. Looking to sell my 12 BMW X3 which has been great so far. Only 1 thing went wrong and that was with the electronic transmission switch which was fixed under warranty. Other than that, nothing. And the X3 is actually damned fun to drive as well. Unbelievable smooth 8 speed transmission and a super smooth non turbo inline 6 that gets great gas mileage

more fun to drive than the SC. Sc had no feel of the road , dead steering, etc.

I've been asked what was my favorite car that I've owned and would like to own. My answer was the same, my current SC430. I've owned it for over 10 years now and my answer hasn't changed. To top that, I still don't see anything out there that I'd like to replace it with.

Had my 2004 SC for a year now. Only car I've ever owned that was this much fun was an '86 Nissan 300ZX. My car only has 55K, but I'm already looking to trade for an 08-10 with few miles. Would love to find a nice 10, but they are RARE.

My '02 SC430 just rolled over 200k. It still looks and drives like a car with under 100k. The interior is flawless 14 years later. There aren't many cars that hold up cosmetically like these.
