Yeah, Tex, that's what I was implying that the speakers in my old car (Chrysler Sebring) that the subwoofers were wired in series when they should have been wired in parallel, or vice versa, and the amp would overheat. Cannot recall at the moment how they were wired. But in the case of the SC, I had heard enough horror stories about the amp burning out under normal operation plus the additional Lexus TSB on the amp. I didn't want to put additional stress on it. Immediately after I removed the sub and all my speakers were running at reduced sound I replaced the sub and modified my approach. This was my experience so since that time and knowing that many amps across the SC line crapped out, I didn't want to be another name on the list. Thus, I tried to keep the speakers as close to spec as I can. And from my previous experience with the Sebring, i know that a impedence mismatch can damage any amp. My wallet can't afford to risk it.
Thank all for your replies I am going to order some replacement speakers from parts express and the start looking at head units to with the Beat Sonic unit.
