Default Transmission fluid overfilled

2002 SC430 with 166,000 miles and going strong.
Has anyone overfilled their transmission? I did...no need to call me names, I already did.
The way I found out was, after driving 55 MPH for about 30 minutes I came to a stoplight and noticed smoke coming from under the car and hood. I thought I was on fire!
Pulled over and saw oil all over the exhaust, checked the motor oil and it was within the dipstick range. Checked the trans dipstick and saw the fluid way above the line.
I let the car cool down and was able to make it home. When I looked under the car I did not see fluid leaking down, only what was on the exhaust. I cleaned all around the pan where I saw fluid but nothing leaking from one location. I drained the fluid to the correct level and made sure it was red and clean. This is my 3rd week after the incident and have not seen any after effects.
Does the transmission have a relief valve? or should I be concerned that I damaged something else?
What are the effects of overfilling the transmission?
Thank you

i think you are just fine and if everything is still operating the same, just keep driving.

.

Like was stated you should be fine but if you prefer to have the proper level it is easy to remove some of the fluid through the dip/fill tube using a hand pump and thin hose. You can pick one up for about $10 at Harbour Freight.

I appreciate the idea, but was able to lift the car and remove some of the fluid from the drain plug.
So far so good, I have not had any issues with the transmission so far. I keep an eye on the level just to insure I don't have a leak.
Thank you
