Funny thing. Been researching E93 BMW verts too because of the hard top. Test drove a couple of 2013 M3 convertibles to see if I could leave my Sc430 for another V8 hardtop convertible. For how much I would have to pay and for what I get vs what I have now in my much loved 2005 SC, I could not yet make the plunge. Still have not found a hard top convertible where I can fit a full golf bag in the trunk with the top down.

OP, Good luck with the E93. Looks like you got a compelling price. Please let us know how things work out.

Being able to fit a golf bag is one of the requirements I had when shopping for a hardtop convertible. Unfortunately, there seem to be only two models that can do that, both are Lexus and out of production---SC and IS C. It seems that not many convertible drivers are golfers.

Well I guess that means I can never sell the SC 430 because I am certainly not ever owning an IS C. My old lady from 2005 will be staying in service for quite a bit longer.

Typically, if maintained well the SC430's are good for 15 years years and approximately 175,000 miles in the northeast United States as a daily driver.

Obviously, a garage queen driven 2,000 miles per year will fare much better.

After that 15 year, 175K marker, your repair costs start to eclipse the full cost of the SC430.

i am at steves luxury motorworks in Monrovia,ca the guy that made the luxlink kits up.

He
he made an interesting comment about the servicing of the car.

previously the Lexus required 15k trans fluid changes. Trans lasted great.

WS(world standard) trans came out in 06. No dipstick. "Lifetime fluid"

dealer says 70-90k.

steve says the solenoids can hang up and a check light come on if unlucky. Then a solenoid replacement and a flush for $800 normally fixes them.

or go back to the 15k trans change interval and maybe have less chances of issues.

he has several sc430 customers with over 300k miles with regular fluid changes.
