Default Replacing Factory Nav/Screen

Anyone here been able to replace the factory screen? (the one at the top)... or been able to make it only show a different video source?

For some reason I've been unable to correct an issue with the factory screen. "Check System" keeps showing up, I've replaced the DVD / I've replaced the entire unit in the trunk.

Curious if anyone's every replaced the unit or upgraded it.. somehow?

So I gather that your NAV doesn't work at all and all it does is to display "check system"?

We upgraded the NAV screen to also be a backup camera. Audio store recommended by dealership needed an item called an RGBLEX... Made the NAV screen into a place where camera, and an Iphone can input. Iphone plugs into a socket in the console. There is a switch that allows Iphone or regular NAV screen. We didn't bother upgrading the NAV itself since iPhones update so frequently. Now, it's important that before the installation that you tell your vendor that "noise" in the iPhone signal will not be tolerated. We had to sent ours back to the shop in order for them to add the proper shielding added. But one that was done it's a nice upgrade. If you don't add the iPhone, it's less money...but I think it is cheaper than trying to constantly upgrade the maps and the NAV.

Not the cheap way but a pioneer avh-4200 and a best sonic 13l install allows the factory nav unit to display the video rear channel output on the pioneer alternately using the mode button on the steering wheel with our operating nav unit on our 08.

involves specific button pushing on the pioneer to bypass the safety stuff.

not a,fix for the dead nav unit ot to show the Apple car play on the upper screen.
