I would be interested in a group buy as well. HATE run flats, won't use the flat-fix stufff in a can, and am dreading the day I come out to a flat.
My SC400 had a full size spare, and the SC's in CA all seem to have the R/F "option", which is not much of an option at all
. I don't use the trunk anyhow when the top is down, and when up, there is all the extra space if needed to carry a package...like maybe the one that will hold the money to pay for a kit?
I would install the parts myself if I had them so a group buy sounds like the way to go.

I was quoted C$900+ including installation by the Lexus dealer a while ago.
If I keep the car beyond warranty/road side assistance period, which I very likely will, I might go for it.

I am currently ordering a conversion kit for my SC430, just waiting to confirm everything. If everything goes well on the transaction, I will pass on the dealers name and contact to this site. I checked with different dealers and got significantly different prices just on the parts. It does not look hard to install. I have a copy of the technical service information bulletin for 2002 SC 430 spare tire storage kit installation (PG014-01), dated 4/27/01, should be the same for later models as they have not changed much on the car since then. The contents of the kit are as follows. There are also instructions on how to remove existing hardware and install the kit. I will fax to you if you like.
Quantity part # part name
1 42611-24430 wheel,disc
1 n/a T145/70R17 Tire, Tubeless (Bridgestone)
1 90942-05009 Valve
1 51900-91705 Carrier Assy, Spare Wheel
1 51913-24020 Plate, spare wheel mounting
1 51938-24010 Bracket,spare wheel carrier mounting
4 90105-06158 Bolt
2 90541-09101 Cushion
2 90541-09080 Cushion
1 64711-24170-BO Matt, luggage compartment trim, rear
1 64716-24080-BO Cover,luggage compartment trim, rear
1 64771-24040-BO Cover, spare wheel
1 42668-14060 Label, compact spare tire caution
If you go to tirerack.com they have some good tire evaluations for this car when going to non RFT.

estimated quote is about $611.00 for parts (includes shipping)
He will be shipping in a few days to me once all parts arrive.
The place I got it from was an ebay seller- lorparts.
His store on e-bay is called- Factory Lexus Parts
Contact: Matt, Parts Associate
Phone: 916-783-9111
Email: mmolini@lexusofroseville.net
Matt has been very good to work with and he is considering putting together the conversion package as an item on their e-bay store. They have an excellent rating on e-bay.

I tried searching salvage yards via the internet but only got responses from middlemen who would lead you to yards that have the parts? hmmm. I bet only a small percentage of SC 430's were bought with non-RFT's and the spare tire included therefore finding one in a salvage yard might be like finding a "needle in a haystack". When it's time to change tires, I am planning on replacing with Continental ContiExtremeContact (Ultra high performance All-Season) Size: 245/40WR18 that are listed for $156.00/tire. That's a big saving over the RFT's and will easily make up for the cost of the conversion kit. The Continental's got a pretty postive review on Tirerack.com. Comments about the tire choices or anything else?

I was talking about picking up a spare tire, not from a sc430 in a junk yard which I doubt most people could find, but basically anything with the same lug pattern. So the spare is a 17" spare?
