Had a bad day yesterday. Went to a friends funeral and was inside for about 2 hours. Came outside to find my car had been hit with no note left on the windshield. I hope karma is real and they get what's coming to them. Estimate to replace the fender was $1,100, so I'm filing an uninsured motorist claim for the hit and run with a $200 deductible.
So sorry to hear about the accident Poqman. I had something similar happen to me at the airport a number of years ago but I was fortunate that the person not only realized that he did it but he also left me a note. His insurance paid for the repairs of the damage he inflicted.
I don't think it's an uninsured motorist claim but call your insurance agent and let him help you
Yea, we had that conversation. It worked to my advantage since normally my deductible is $500 for collision, but uninsured motorist deductible is $200.
Sorry that happened to you. I'd be sure to file a police report and also check the immediate vicinity for any security cameras that may have captured the hit and run.

"Q-tip" hit your car...sorry brother, they have no idea!
this video will provide the answers but you have to watch the whole thing...
Another thing to consider is that whether $900 difference is worth having a blemish on car history. Any insurance claims like that will show a collision record in car history, which diminishes trade in /resell value. If you intend to keep the car for the long haul it probably won't matter much.
Ouch, that hurts! I can relate to the pain. Get some healing quick. Good luck, do you have a body shop in mind?
The Insurance company authorized the shop to order a new OEM fender from Lexus today. Parts delivery is Monday with the car drop off on Tuesday (unless the inspection shows the parts are damaged in shipping). Things are moving as fast as I could hope. The car was also hit in the rear bumper about 9 months ago and now the fender. Two hits on a CarFax report is not good. I guess I'm holding onto this one for the long term.
If you have pictures to document the damages, and receipts. That would go a long way if selling it privately.
Thanks Coleroad, Since there has not been any structural damage, I am keeping documentation. I'm hoping you are right. This car is so pristine, it would be a shame for someone to be scared off from buying it because of the CarFax report.
Sorry to hear this happened. I had a similar thing happen , but not as severe. Someone hit the front left corner of my 05 LS in a parking lot and didn't say a word. Estimate was just over 1200 dollars, so I forked out my 500.00 deductible and had a new bumper cover installed.

Keep the doco and include that fact in the ad if you ever sell it. At this point with cars this old a well documented non-structural pro level repair with before and after pics will not affect the sale value as much as general condition, good maint record, and mileage.
