Yeah dar it's been crazy here I changed the motor it does the same thing that it does in the video
then I changed the climate control because the top button was shaky then the top didn't work at all
then in desperation I go a local auto parts to get it scanned and while it's being scanned for codes I press the button for the top
and it opens!!!! All that and no top codes!!!!
whew now what?????

do you think the whirring noise could be the package tray cable?

Remember I said that the hardest part I had replacing my motor was with the grounding wire? Well according to this article, that maybe our problem http://www.justanswer.com/lexus/6t06...o-bad-top.html

Hey dar i didn't have any problem reinstalling the motors ground wire but my car was involved in a rear end collision
after I contacted the body shop about the top issue they informed me that they only replaced the rear bumper and did not work on the top but every time I try to put the top down I hear this whirring sound coming from my passenger side rear quarter
panel (see video post) is kinda sounds like when you antenna mast breaks but the motor still works

and honestly, unless you are good friends with the mechanic, do you thin he would read these forums?
I hope you have an old Win XP machine unless you are good with computers...Techstream is easy to load on XP but can be difficult on win7 plus.

I would not remove the trunk lid . Unless you mean the trunk headliner trim. I don't see how that would be necessary .
Just removing all the trunk panels wont really get to see more. The gears and hinges that are moving as well as the package tray are visible with out taking anything out. The trunk does have to pivot and tilt both directions to open top and then close top
