All you have to do is pull a whole bunch of little clips.

Are you using winXP or win7 plus?
I think you may be looking at a simple solution but you must find the source of the noise.
also, have you checked the switch in the slot where the trunk cover slides into?

I think it's windows 7 ....
i took the trunk apart to find that noise but when I close the trunk I only hear the noise coming from my passenger quarter panel.
its the noise you hear in the video I posted in this post. the sound seems like it's coming from the middle of the panel (see video)
thanks for any advice you can give me

I think you are well on your way to solving the problem with tech stream and the carpet out.
I think your next step would be to mark on your car's fender/quarter panel to see where the whirring noise is the loudest. The open the trunk and see what components are the closest to your mark. Hopefully only one of the components would be capable of making a whirring noise.
The sc430 hinge has like three different motors in it. (At least two) It is possible you replaced the wrong one and the other one needs to be replaces.
If it was me and I was pretty sure it was a hinge problem, I would just bite the bullet and replace the whole hinge. You can find an entire hinge on ebay for $150 http://www.ebay.com/itm/02-09-LEXUS-...5YwHBk&vxp=mtr Way less frustrating.

Did your button problem begin after you replaced your hinge motor?

Hey Ron,
It is pretty easy to replace the entire hinge.
So the button problem was there before you replaced the motor, or the button problem happened after you replaced the motor, just not immediately after?
P.S. Feel free to call me Daryl. Darn message board made me drop off 2 letters when I made my username, so it ended up Dar.

Hey Darryl thanks for your input
I've been doing a lot of searching and i think the source of my problem is the package tray motor.
the reason why i can't find any codes on the top is because the motor is still working,it's just spinning in place!!!
But now my other problem is that I can't open my top to inspect the damage!
How hard is it to change that motor? It looks complicated.
And again thanks to you and club Lexus for all your input and help
P.S. my name is ron

The fact your top doesn't work now could be a good thing.
Techstream will only tell you what your top is doing if you push the button down and the system goes through it's moves. When it was working, everything tested out ok.
Now that the button doesn't work, I would be interested in seeing what techstream says is going on. I think you should get an error. Or it should say it can't see the computer, which means a bad ground or a bad computer
