First I have to admit I didn't read every thread, but I did read a bunch of them. Some of the AGM discussion got me to thinking about how their charging parameters.

My background tells me that using an AGM battery in a car designed for use with a lead acid battery isn't such a good idea. Were any years of the SC430s factory set up with an AGM battery?
AGM batteries want a charging voltage above 14V. Below that they never reach a full charge and that can have an adverse effect on the battery life. I guess what I'm getting at is if the SC's alternator never gets the battery above say 80% charge it not only has a shorter life, but also has less room for any sort of draw before not enough cranking amps are left to do the job.

Now if you routinely plug into a battery tender arrangement that supports AGM, then all is good.

Somebody please correct my thinking if this isn't germane to use in the SC430.

Yes on the smart temp compensated charger. Too many draws otherwise. Car is a miracle of design and build quality. So its needs a charger for being parked weeks at a time? No biggie.

This a 50 year trip for me. Last convertible hardtop car i owned was a 1958 corvette.

Fast forward and i now can drive the 50 generations later version.

Wow! Time trip.

Same firing order engine. 1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2. Same as a 283/327/350. You can hear it as revs out. 261 cu. in. of high tech that lasts.

just high tech dual overhead cammmed fuel injectioned, power hard top, 6 speed auto, four wheel independent suspension with antilock disk brakes, air conditioning, auto power windows and seats, quiet, great stereo great paint

Default No blame - accepted age related condition

There is no blame being assigned to the car or manufacturer. The parasitic drain is measured directly. The battery itself is not a factor i the measurement, other than to provide the current though the meter.

Certainly a higher grade, strong battery can sustain the drain longer, but it can’t cure it. Since I don’t intend to pull all the aged electronics out, I will just deal with the existing condition. If it gets worse, then I’ll go after the bad actors. Even battery tenders don’t normally put out more than an amp of current but since the load is distributed across multiple circuits, it’s not worth chasing at this time. Have a great day!
