Would you trade in your SC 430 for a ....
LC 500 ?
I honestly think this would be the only car I would consider
Trading in my SC for if I sold my car 😝
After all all these years, still Love the SC 430

It's been hard to find a suitable replacement for the SC and I am still holding onto mine happily
. Even the LC500 might not fit the bill if what you are after is a hard top convertible.

To me only two cars fit into this category, The sc430 and the sl500. I know there's other hard top convertibles, but I think these two are the only ones in the same class. Both also have bulletproof engines.

I think that 'd be in a world of hurt if I had to choose a replacement car. The SC430 has been my all time favorite car to own and I just don't see anything out there that can replace it.

I have owned Benz ( 380 SL, 500SEL, C280) and BMWs ( 635CSI, 325IS)
and I tell you guys .. as soon as the car pass 50K, electronics and a assortments
of repairs come up in the 1K
My 380SL was pretty good but the Old generations BMWs were god awful
With QC
I now own 3 Lexus and they are pretty reliable !
Back to The SC .. yea I think if I sold my SC, I would jump
into an LC 500 ( white) in maybe 4-5 yrs

Does LC have a convertible version? If not, I wouldn't be interested.
MB has great style and gadgets, but terrible reliability. If you want to tinker with it MB will drive you nuts, because none of its design makes any sense. For example, its DRL has one setting for the right light and one for the left, why???

Yeah. Have you tried changing the stock air filter in a current generation V6 or V8 Benz engine ? I deal with one M278 and one M276 engine. Cannot believe how user unfriendly the design is. They use star head screws rather than Phillips, the housing for the filter needs to be fully removed from two flimsy clips which are positioned so you cannot see them, all hoses leading into and out of the filter need to be disconnected .... Just to change an air filter. With the SC430, four easily visible clips snap out, I jiggle it a little and I can take the air filter out. 30 second job vs a full 15 -30 mins on the Benz depending on how proficient you are.

I have had three Mercedes SLK convertibles (black, firemist red and white), and two BMW 3 series convertibles (one soft top white and one hard top black). I like this car better than any of then. That being said, I read somewhere that BMW is going to stop making hard top convertibles and going back to the soft top. I really prefer hardtops, so if it is true that 2019 or 2020 might be the last 4 series hardtop, I could see myself trading this for that in 2020 or 2021.
I love this car to death, but while I have added a better stereo and backup camera, my car will have about 100,000 miles on it in four years. In 2021, it will be awful hard for me not to bite the bullet and get a 4 series BMW with about 20,000 miles on it. My spouse is sick of me switching cars and says I am keeping this one forever, but that might be hard for me to pass up.

I have been seriously thinking of selling my SC430 and buying an SLK55 AMG. What I would really like is an Audi R8 Spyder, but I'd need to win a lottery first.

I would trade my SC for anything with a Prancing Horse on it
or possible a NSX.

Nope, not me. I would not trade my SC for anything. I love this car dearly and I don't think there is anything out there looks good, comfortable drive, reliable at the price I paid.
This car is for keep.

Only for the looks & not the handling. Mine would be a 1958 Chevy Corvette. But then again the SC is my wifes. My baby is my fully restored 1960 Ford Thunderbird.
