Unique Amplifer Problem -, Help
2004 SC430 ---- Hello everyone
Here is my problem.... When the 2 connectors to the amp in the trunk are both connector, my central locking system, outside mirror adjustment, gas tank and trunk will not be operational. My navigation and radio/cd will be functional with a scratchy noise in the speakers. I had to disconnect the battery because it was constantly being drained. While trying to diagnose the cause, I realize if I pulled out the connector to the right with the left one still intact, the central locking, gas tank. trunk and mirror adjustment became functional but both the navigation and cd/radio even though they are getting power will not work. The navigation will not load the maps and the radio cannot be heard. Once I have both connectors in place, the navigation and radio will work but not the central locking, trunk, gas tank and the mirror adjustment will cease working. I was suspecting grounding because of the scratching noise in the speakers but cant seem to identify the source. I replaced the amplifier thinking that might be the source of the problem but had the same results with the new one. Any help or lead will be appreciated.

....so my first question.......is the car new to you? If so, maybe there was some electrical work done before you bought the car, that could be causing the issue........second....have you had any electrical/stereo work done ?.....not knowing your car, my first thought would be a grounding issue also, but it could be in a thousand places. If this issue is new to you, I would concentrate on the wiring that you know you're having issues with. I would not only disconnect them, but trace them as far as I could, you may have a break in the wires & they could be touching something elsewhere

According to this article, the NAV Grounding wire is in the trunk on the quarter panel http://www.justanswer.com/lexus/6t06...o-bad-top.html

The car is not new to me. I did a little bit of bodywork around the rear passenger quarter panel. That said I do not see where the problem should be originating from. I have tried checking the wires and tested them but not getting any negative results. I don't know if it is possible to have both the central locking system and the nav/stereo system share a common electrical line that may be the cause of my problem.
You are right the grounding is next to the amplifier in the trunk but shows no sign of poor contact. Is it possible there might be a relay or ecu controlling the 2 systems? I am stuck.... HELP!!!!!.... Thanks
