Ok, I got everything out and looks fine...the door worked again today once or twice...then stopped. Screws are all good and door seems to be on track. After some research, I noticed there was a Service Bulletin for the navigation door assembly (BO011-04) so Lexus knows this is a weak spot. They will now replace just the door (instead of the entire navigation unit)...I could only guess as to the price. As we know anything at the dealership is expensive.

At any rate, I may just disconnect it and leave it closed. After all, I mostly use Waze for navigation now

I may do the same. I found a used Nav screen on eBay for $300 that comes with a 1-yr warranty...question is what to do if it happens again after the warranty is up? lol.

if the NAV screen goes bad again I guess you could try to make one good unit out of the two or just purchase another NAV screen assembly. My NAV rarely gets used for the same reason as you...WAZE! ;-) and I think the NAV screen will last the life of the car. I am just one of those typical guys who has a little OCD and when something on a car is broken, it has be fixed! LoL

BTW, have you ever considered learning to solder?
Just get the engineering students to teach you, that way you see if you are getting your monies worth!

Yes and yes....so I will probably order the unit with the warranty and replace it! Even though the car is older I do like things to be work as they should

Ok, I made an offer of $230 on the Nav screen, the guy wants $330. I'm sure we'll meet somewhere in the middle. Like you mentioned, this one comes with a 1-yr warranty and if it goes bad I should be able to get it working again with parts from my old one. I'll keep you posted!

Edited to add: purchased a Nav unit for $200 from an '05 SC430...the guy confirmed the door works. I have 14 days to send it back. We'll see.

Good news! I found a place in CA who will fix the navigation door for $300-350. I will ship them the unit when I receive the replacement unit from eBay.

why would you do this when you said you just found a good one for $200 on eBay?

Haha, good question! I'm looking for more of a permanent solution. Unfortunately I found this place after I purchased the one from eBay! No worries, I will just resell it on eBay after mine is fixed

Just wanted to provide an update in case anyone is interested. HiTechServ in CA replaced the navigation cover door motor and all is well. Cost was $375. I will sell the replacement unit I purchased on eBay shortly. So now both the navigation cover door and radio cover door open and close properly.

Is there a way to disable the Nav door auto close-open? I would want it to stay open and and only to be closed on demand.

Good question, actually I don't think there is! But you can keep it closed by hitting the "close" button. If you do that, the next time you start the car the navigation door won't open.

The problem with that is the back up cam will also disable. If I have a schematic for the door, I might be able to disconnect the power feed to the motor when the ignition is turned on.

My 2005 SC430 radio door also works on/off. Last week it just stop working. So I took the while unit out and test it on my friend’s SC430, the radio door works perfectly. So I put it back into my car and make sure I plugin the power cable all the way and it still doesn’t work. Is it electrical/wire cable problem? I check all the fuse and all goods look. Any suggestion where to check next..

Thanks in Advance…
