Default Where to get this socket

The light in my driver's side footwell flickers. I have swapped lights with the passenger side, but the flickering remains on the driver's side so I have ruled out a bulb issue. Do you know where or how to get a new socket with some of the wire intact? My thought was I could splice a new socket into the existing wiring further up the wiring harness. That would provide a new socket and enough wire to bypass any short by the existing socket.

Thanks. Brian

I would check with my local Lexus parts guy or do a search from an online dealer.

Try wiggling the wires with the light pulled out like you have in your picture. You may be able to narrow down the problem to a certain point and be able to fix it.

Are you using an LED? The led's are notorious for flickering, especially the little tiny ones. If so, then it might not be your wires. Could be the voltage to the socket, also. Something I learned from the same experience you're having. Maybe try testing with a voltmeter and see if it stays 12v constant or also drops.

ShawnOK, yes, it is an LED. I have moved the LED to the passenger side and it works fine. I guess that's why I figured it was the socket. Is there a different style of LED I should be looking for that would handle any voltage drops? How did you handle this situation? I would rather not put the stock bulb back if I can avoid it just because it really doesn't like up the foot well very well.

Thanks. Brian

had this problem too with my footwell light LED upgrade project. The answer was to just get better LEDs. I threw out the cheap ones I bought that flickered all the time and used higher priced ones. No problems for three years after using better bulbs.

personally, I would either splice in a stand alone led/cob light strip that sticks with 3m tape. Another option is to find the 4x4 square led panel that has the interchangeable connectors. I believe this bulb is called a 74 (also called T5) wedge bulb. So find one of the eBay sellers that sells the smaller panel with the 74/T5 interchangeable end.

OBP, Do you remember where you got them? These are the ones I got: http://store.ijdmtoy.com/37-73-74-T5...s-p/10-207.htm Which bulbs would you recommend?

ShawnOK, Thanks. I will start looking into that as well. I was getting ready to splice the line from the passenger side to see if I could feed this one.

Thanks. Brian

Oh, ijdmtoy... contact them and tell them you're having problems with it. That it keeps flickering. They usually have a good return/replace policy. Or even an upgrade recommendation. I use them for all my LEDs.

surprised you're having trouble with ijdmtoy bulbs. Yes like the earlier suggestion, tell them you are having flickering issues and see what other product they recommend. I bought all of mine off eBay and went from the cheapest thing I could find ( bad decision, waste of time and money ) to something more mid priced. Do not recall now what finally worked cos it was so long ago. Definitely worth doing the upgrade though. Interior feels a lot fresher with bright white light.

I had installed led in my foot wells of my sc430 had no issues. However on my 2004 gx470 I wanted to tap the two wires in my foot well to install a led strip and it would not work had nothing to do with polarity it turned out that the voltage on the foot well bulbs was 6 volt . When I checked it with volt meter that was what it was putting out. I did not install a LED to replace the foot well bulb since it was a strange sort of bulb and was six volts.
